I have had my light for 2 days and I must say I am impressed. The only negative is the app is a little clunky but I am sure I will get used to it. The light does what it says it will do plus some. Currently using the automatic mode and will be customizing the light shades based on research and how my plants respond. My fish genuinely seem to like the sunrise feature as they immediately become active as the light switches from night to sunrise to day.

To start, Id like to let the pictures speak for themselves. The initial picture of my 29 gallon was taken on September 1, about a week before installing this light this light when I was using a Kessill light. The second picture was taken on October 23, so roughly a month after a half. I went from wondering if I should pull out the vallisneria and try a different plant, to having to pull up new shoots of it every week because its growing so fast I have to trim constantly to keep it from taking over the tank! I was also finally able to get my dwarf hairgrass to carpet after trying unsuccessfully since June. I LOVE this light. My fish tank finally has jungle vibes, which is what I wanted. Having the ability to play with how long the lights are on and adjust the color settings is dope af, but if you dont want to mess with that the presets are cool too. Literally the only annoying thing about it is if the power gets interrupted for whatever reason, you have to reconnect to it via bluetooth for it to go through its presets correctly. I found this out the hard way by coming home to a dark fish tank because our power got interrupted over night and I didnt reset it because I didnt know i needed to. However, that little issue can be forgiven with how amazing the rest of it is. I was especially nervous when making this purchase because a 29 high is not a shallow tank, and I really wanted my dhg to carpet. This light had no problems giving robust growth even at the very bottom of the tank. If you can afford it, this light is very worth it.

best light for a planted tank

Out of all the light systems Ive tried, these are probably the most convenient and configurable of them all. I recently purchased a Fluval Flux tank. After playing seeing all the things you can do with the included light system, I made the plunge and replaced all five of my aquarium lights with Fluval lights. Pros: *Easy/Highly configurable. You can set your lights and color any way you like or use the built-in presets. *Super bright! Ive had to tweak my lights often to avoid algae growth, but my plants are going crazy. *The warranty is three years on their lights! Conss: *The iPhone app is slightly quirky and could use some work. Its just not as polished as other smart lighting apps out there. I find certain features like export custom settings confusing. Not to mention you can only export to lights of the same type. If you have Grown Lights and Aquasky lights, you cannot import-export profiles across light types even if you want a similar effect on both. *I have an iPhone and Ipad. The lights seem to work best when you only use one device to configure them. Ive had issues, particularly when I rename a light, the second device will lose connection with it, and you have to re-add the light back to the device. *You cannot group lights or configure similar lights together. I have two lights in my Fluval Flex tank. I have configured each one separately. It would be nice to group them and control them both at the same time. The app treats each light individually. *You only the ability to create one routine per light. It would be nice if you could configure different patterns per day of the week. For example, I have a tank in my bedroom and have the lights come on at 6:30 am on weekdays. I sleep in on the weekends and would prefer the lights to come on around 8 am. Ive installed separate smart plugs (Kasa), that turn on the power to the units at 8 am on the weekends. *No integration with Alexa or other Smart systems. My entire house runs on Smarthings; it would be awesome to update the app to integrate with 3rd party applications. I have two tanks in my living room; it would be awesome if I could tell Alexa to turn off the lights when I want to watch a movie. Depending on the Fluval model, I have to pull out the app or hit the button light itself. *Occasionally, the lights will ignore the routines. Ive run into a few instances where the lights should be off based on my configuration, but are still on. When I open the app and connect to the light, it suddenly re-syncs and continues where the routine should be. I realize I have lots of Cons, but they are mostly issues with the app itself. Fluval has the basics right but could enhance the app a bit. The light units themselves are great, and the ability to program them on a smart app makes them best in class for the average hobbyist.

The health of my plants really shows after having used this light. Previously, I had a poor quality light that I purchased with a 20 gallon aquarium kit. I think it is better to just spend some extra money on higher quality products because it is worth it in my opinion. My fish are thriving and my friends are amazed when I change the light colors and brightness with my phone. I also love how you can set the time and even length of the sunset and sunrise.

My N-Class Endler, Cherry Shrimp, and Ramshorn snail 21 Gallon tank hasnt look this good in a long time! I can see the oxygen from the plants bubbling up even at just 50% power! anything above 70% is excessive and the light turns super hot, especially on a 12 hr schedule. The app is easy to use and once you get use to it youll be able to set up the perfect schedule; however I feel the app couldve been designed better and be more intuitive. The price is pretty high for this LED light, but I guess factor in the brand and Bluetooth capabilities... Still...could be cheaper. Overall its a great light and I would still recommend it... For now..

It’s good for low tech plants

I also saw this light demoed on Aquarium CoOp, and I was impressed. I am setting up a 30 gallon high tech planted tank, I decided to try this light rather than one of high priced ADA fixtures. Time will tell as to the durability but I found the app the simplist one to operate. Not sure why one reviewer was having so much trouble with it?

Love this. I grow plants to feed my turtle. The multiple settings allow me to change per my mood or the tanks time of day. Very happy with this purchase. Looking into more of this brand in the near future

The package that the light came in was torn and beat up looking, all the functions of the light didn’t work. I reached out to the company felt like they were not to interested in replacing so I threw the piece of crap in the trash and bought another companies light that works as advertised. Will not buy from them again.
