Garmin AMPS Rugged Mount with Audio and Power for Montana 600 Series (010-11654-01)

Does not have very thick (ga.) leads. It went bad in 6 months. Bike was in the rain for a night, the fuse popped. And it never worked again.

Mount is good, the provided crews are junk, strip right away, buy yourself spare HEX M4 screws.

Great product. I bought a Garmin Montana 600 and I needed a mount to secure it to my motorcycle. Ive had a Garmin mount before for a different unit so I knew roughly what to expect and I already had the RAM parts to attach it. I have a RAM ball on a plate on the back of the mount, one RAM arm and one other plate with ball on the motorcycle dash (you will need similar parts too). The mount is perfectly compatible with the GPS unit and it is secure under arduous conditions (off road). You do have to wire the unit into the motorcycle but that shouldnt be an issue if you have a basic knowledge of vehicle electrics (12V & 0V). I have mine connected to ignition switched 12V because the Montana GPS has an internal battery anyway. There is a star locking screw on top which stops the unit being removed at petrol stations etc and it keeps the unit physically locked in place so you know it wont fall off if riding in rough conditions.

This thing plus the Garmin Montana GPS unit may be the best investment Ive made in a long time. Take care to install the power leads into an extra switched power (there is usually one behind the headlight and one under the seat on most motorcycles). When I turn the key on my bike (DR650) the unit turns on and when I turn the key off, the unit prompts me to power down or run off of battery power. The mount is very stable, I coupled it with a ram mount. Only wish I had pulled the trigger sooner. The instructions are not super helpful, I was nervous about plugging directly into 12v, but after some research I saw that others had done the same. It works like a champ and with some clean cable routing, this is a set it and forget it set up!

use the rubber boot to cover contacts when washing bike or will corrode

The Product looks good and is the only one i can find to power a garmin, but used it on a one week trip to the bahamas and the the pin that provides power to the gps rusted and broke off, how can that be prevented, amazon is going to do a 1 times refund, will try it one more time.
