I ordered one of these gaskets along with a whole new flush assembly. On a whim, I tried the gasket alone before replacing the whole assembly, and it was less than five minutes start to finish. Great tutorial videos on YouTube. Great update to a bad factory gasket.

Took a chance and tried to go cheap - bought a two-pack of aftermarket (non-Kohler) seals that sold for the same price as one Kohler. Wasted my time and money. Both leaked from the start. After taking a wire brush to all contact surfaces to ensure old seal left no remnants. Flipped each to see if I could seal - no dice. Kohler seal came a few days after order. Not a drop leaks anymore. Dont waste time and try to skimp. Go straight to Kohler. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

Its worth the price, dont waste your time on the cheaper knockoffs. Just get the goods and sleep well at night. No more leaking or running water. A quick you tube check and you can do it yourself. Sixty plus yo woman here, not a quick learner, but a good learner. Look everything up, your system, how-to etc. Do it once, do it right. The cheaper ones buckle, dont waste your time and money.

We have a Kohler Cimarron toilet that has the Red valve seal. This was a perfect fit replacement. Reason we got it was because after 2 years the toilet became very difficult to flush; you really had to put a lot of pressure on the flush handle - it was like it was stuck. Replacing this made all the difference - its back to new. A little tip here, the package comes with instructions on the back so when you come to the part where it shows to rotate the center disc portion of the canister mechanism counter clockwise to loosen, well when I did that it sounded like the plastic was going to snap at the shaft. So heres what you do, just lift the actual canister up enough to reach down below it and grab the center shaft at the base where it connects to the toilet tank. It will feel like a + sign in your hand - take that and turn it counter clockwise to loosen it, and then do the same (clockwise) to tighten it. Its a much sturdier way to take the canister mechanism off and on without feeling like youre going to snap the center shaft off.

I noticed that my Kohler (K-4436-AA) toilet would start running randomly throughout the day when it wasnt in use. Reading online it seems that a common problem for running toilets is that the canister seal becomes brittle over time and need to be replaced. There are some great videos on YouTube showing the replacement process for the canister flush valve seal. FYI, The replacement seal is a yellow color while the original seal is red, the product packaging shows that new seal is meant to replace the original red seal. During the seal installation, I confirmed that the yellow seal is indeed a perfect replacement for the original red seal. Additionally, since installing the replacement seal I havent noticed the toilet running randomly anymore. Im hoping that this permanently fixes my running toilet if I notice its running again there is most likely another issue causing the water running.

This little gasked is a $7 miracle. My toilet started running and after a few weeks, no matter how much handle jiggling I did, it was clear that I needed to make a repair. The water was running as often as not. Looking into the tank I saw the old pink gasket and MAN was it in bad shape. Probably the chemicals in the water did it in, as its a relatively new toilet. This new gasket arrived and I was able to get the old one off/put the new one on in less than 5 minutes. The hardest part was disconnecting the chain (what a pain!!). Once I got past that step, the rest was simple. I do highly recommend that if your old gasket was in rough shape, that you take a moment before putting the new one on to scrub away any residue that might be left over. There was quite a bit on mine, but nothing a scrubber sponge didnt quickly handle. Happy Flushing!
