I have a low-flow Kohler toilet that had a phantom flush. That is where your valve seal has gotten old and the water leaks out slowly. All of a sudden you hear the toilet start to fill again all by itself in a pattern. That is called the phantom flush. A very slow leak into the bowl that finally results in the water level getting so low in the tank that it flushes itself. Did some research and found out it was time to change the valve seal. Seems like they only last a couple of years (less if you use chemicals in the tank itself for cleaning). Bought this inexpensive little piece. Looked on YouTube for a video on replacing a canister flush valve seal. And voila! Toilet fixed and no repairman bill. Bought 2 of these at the same time so Id have a spare a couple of years down the road when this one fails. $7 is much better than a $75 plumber call! Do it yourself - you can do it if I did!

This product fixed my Kohler canister type toilet from leaking. The old seal was probably old when we moved into the coop in 2012. It started leaking only in the summers, then this year 2018, it was leaking all the time. I had gotten plumbers to come and look at both toilets that were leaking. They said they had to order parts, charged me $179 for nothing and they wouldnt come back. So I viewed the video on YouTube several times and got up the COURAGE to fix it myself (Im 72). It took about 2 hours start to finish partly because I had to remove and reinstall a wooden over toilet cabinet. So after an hour it was done and works 100% better than before. Oh, I fixed the other American Standard toilet flapper as well.

Our home was built in 2013 and the builder put in Kohler products throughout the house. Fast forward to 2021 and some toilet flush mechanisms were getting harder to flush and it turns out that these gaskets need to be replaced to maintain a tight and smooth seal between the tank drain and filll cylinder, especially if you have hard water or big changes in temperature. In our case, the hard water basically dissolved the original gaskets and it was sticking to the tank drain hole when flushing. The new one is super easy to install taking only 2 to 4 minutes. After the install, the flush mechanism is super smooth and water seal is tight. Stick with original Kohler parts for exact measure and perfect fit.

Worked great, simple install. Do take the time to clean off any bits of the old gasket that remain stuck to either surface. The toilet doesnt wake me up at night or keep me from falling asleep anymore. When doing this fix you can also adjust the length of the chain to the handle if you dont like how it feels.

After dealing with a slowly disintegrating gasket for months I finally purchased a replacement. The old one looked like it was made out of polar fleece. Apparently, the original natural rubber seal was damaged by the big clorox chlorine tabs I had put in the tank a while back. Replacing the gasket took almost five whole minutes from start to finish and now the occasional refilling on the toilet tank is gone and the physical effort to push down the flush handle went from a ridiculous number of pounds to a couple of ounces. This new seal appears to be made of a substantially more durable silicone rubber than the natural rubber of the original. The only complaint I have it that I should have replaced it a year earlier when I first noticed increased difficulty pushing down the flush handle and occasional sound of the tank refilling without reason. I bet it wasted thousands of gallons of water. Ugh! Im planning on buying extras and taping them to the underside of the both toilets lids so I dont have an excuse to delay replacing them the next time! If you have a toilet that uses this seal, it is a must-have upgrade even if you dont think you need it. Recommended without reservation.

The toilet valve was going on for about 30 seconds every half hour all day and night. I’d get up an hear the toilet running, then it would stop. Read about replacing this seal, a 10 minute job, and now the toilet works like it should. I noticed that the old seal had developed a small bubble which allowed a tiny amount of water to leak, eventually triggering the valve to fill the tank. This seal fixed the problem...no plumber needed!

We have a Kohler Cimarron toilet that has the Red valve seal. This was a perfect fit replacement. Reason we got it was because after 2 years the toilet became very difficult to flush; you really had to put a lot of pressure on the flush handle - it was like it was stuck. Replacing this made all the difference - its back to new. A little tip here, the package comes with instructions on the back so when you come to the part where it shows to rotate the center disc portion of the canister mechanism counter clockwise to loosen, well when I did that it sounded like the plastic was going to snap at the shaft. So heres what you do, just lift the actual canister up enough to reach down below it and grab the center shaft at the base where it connects to the toilet tank. It will feel like a + sign in your hand - take that and turn it counter clockwise to loosen it, and then do the same (clockwise) to tighten it. Its a much sturdier way to take the canister mechanism off and on without feeling like youre going to snap the center shaft off.

I was going to replace the entire float assembly because of a slow leak. But, I read some of the reviews on Amazon and figured Id just replace the O ring. I followed the instructions on the box and installed the new O ring in about 15 minutes. No more leak. Amazon is the best.

My toilet was draining and refilling constantly and I determined it was due to the canister seal. I considered getting a cheaper generic one but read mixed reviews, so I went with the name brand. I cant speak to the durability of this item but it was easy to install and the toilet issue has been resolved!
