We had bought another charging station to put in our garage for charging our PHEV. It was smart, with a phone app, LCD screen. While it set up OK, its smarts and the smarts in our car conflicted, resulting in NO charging taking place. I tried various settings, but could not get it to cooperate with the car. Sent it back and got this Grizzl-E charging station. The Grizzl-E is very well-built, maybe over-engineered but thats great! Solid, substantial. Very high-quality materials, including the case and, importantly, the cables and J1772 plug. And because it doesnt try to command the charging session, it cooperates with the car perfectly. I dont need the station to handle scheduling, amperage, time-of-day, etc. The car handles all of that, just feed it some power. Thats what this Grizzl-E does, and does it very well and reliably. Very happy with this charging station!

Built like a tank, easy install, and great price! It works wonderfully with my wife’s new Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Charge time from 0-100% in 2hrs 5min, quite the improvement from the 12.5hrs with the level 1 charger the Jeep came with. I’m very happy with the aesthetics of the Avalanche edition, but it will be full of fingerprints after the install. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser cleaned it up in no time and it’s been spotless ever since. I would highly recommend this product.

Well built simple 40 amp EVSE at a good price point. It did not come with the mounting bracket and J1772 holster featured on the manufacturer’s webpage. Since it was drop shipped from the manufacturer not sure why they didn’t include these parts. Disappointed that the manufacturer doesn’t respond to inquiries about the missing parts. Amazon customer support was unable to help either. As pictured, charger can be mounted via the (standard/not metric) 5/16 course threaded holes at each corner of the back of the charger.

Why did I give it 5-stars for smart features when there arent any? Because the cars (KIA) app does and tells you everything you need - you dont need an more control or info. The smart features with a charger would just be redundant. The ability to change the charge rate (with dip switches) also turned out to be an important feature to me. I believe some of the more expensive chargers do not have this feature.

This charger is UL listed, which was a basic requirement for me. Im not a fan of IoT devices or smart anything. I see them as a security liability as ransomware and cyber crime escalate (not to mention govt surveillance). There are also a lot of reviews of smart chargers where chargers are bricked by a software update, or cant charge while updating, or removes some feature they liked via update. The Grizzl-e doesnt do any of that. You set it up and it just works. The mounting process is easy. The holster is functional and solidly supports the cable and plug using the supplied anchors on drywall. The case is heavy but not in a bad way - more in a this is built to last way. The cable is thick and makes the cord that came on my factory Bolt dual charger look puny. The cable is made to last. Changing output is easy - remove 4 bolts and flip some switches according to the manual. This unit was recently featured in a teardown on Munro Live. They loved the simplicity and added safety of physical fuses. This charger doesnt offer any bells and whistles, but this is a great value for someone who doesnt care about all the data mining and checking on things with your phone and just wants something simple and built to last. Set it up and it just works.

Very basic, but excellent. Don’t need a smart charger since the car handles most aspects of that. When our electrician first installed the Nema plug, the grizzle didn’t work. Called tech support, who said the blinking light indicated there was a short in the circuitry, which my electrician initially denied. Sure enough…for not being smart, it told us all we needed to know. We’ve had it now for 7 months and love it

Have had this in service in our garage since October 2022, zero problems. Only quibble is that the screw mounting holes for the car-plug holder are awkwardly positioned, making installation of that element difficult. But mounting of the charger unit itself went very smoothly, and seems quite solid. It was charging our car within a couple of hours of delivery, and no glitches since.

Less then two years old and charger stopped charging. Five year warranty but united charger will not honor warranty. Offered a cable for me to pay a electrician hundreds of dollars to install to see if it works. Stay away from this company. Update, finally sent me a replacement charger hope it works.
