I’ve had this charger for almost a year now and I’m very happy with it. I don’t have a garage and wanted a charger that would perform well in all kinds of weather- especially the cold winter months. This one hasn’t let me down!

Fasten the charger to the wall. Plug it into the outlet. Plug the other end into the car. Simple. Simple is good. Only suggestion I would make is to provide some bigger wall anchors for the cable holder.

Installation went easily enough. The mounting bracket is designed as such that I can use one charger between two homes as needed, i.e. Vacation home and work home. Ill have to inquire about an extra mounting base. Installed today 3/22/23 and couldnt be happier. Sturdy charger and the ability to change amperage via dip switches makes a lot of options available.

TLDR: bought the ‘smart’ version, returned it. Bought the ‘basic’ version, couldn’t be happier. Build quality: great. Unit seems virtually bulletproof, almost to the point of being overbuilt. Packaging: nothing fancy. Unit delivered in the manufacturers packaging with mounting hardware and link to the digital instructions. No unnecessary junk or styrofoam to dispose of. Install: mounting of the unit took minutes. All you really need is a 50A NEMA 14-50 receptacle, and you just mount the bracket to the wall, screw the mounting plate onto the back of the unit, and hang it. Ease of use: (basic version) Remove connector from wall holder, uncoil wire, walk to vehicle charging port, plug in, walk away. No issues with connector fit or function. Pricing: good value when compared to similar units. Far superior to the charger that my vehicle came with from the factory, which cost considerably more. Backstory: originally bought the ‘smart’ version, which gave me all kinds of fits during setup, and then would not work until ‘smart’ features were turned off…essentially turning the unit into the ‘basic’ one. Returned that one and bought the ‘basic’ charger for considerably less money. I’m using my vehicle app / settings to set preference on charging times and charge levels, and not really missing any of the other ‘smart’ capability. Have heard horror stories about Grizzl-e customer service / technical assistance, but not sure what you’d need them for if you opt for the ‘basic’ unit. Overall, very happy with this unit. 5 stars.

When it worked, it worked just fine. Its everything you would want out of a basic level 2 charger without any of the gimmick smart features the more expensive chargers have. It worked flawlessly for over a year, it even survived a month of constant rain and it still worked through rain and frost, then after the weather became good again, it just stopped functioning and the light on it that tells you the fault didnt work. I filed a warranty claim, customer service got back to me quickly but ignored my claim about none of the lights flashing, I replied, and I havent heard since. According to their own website, theyre supposed to send me a new unit under warranty and because this isnt a fault with the breaker, home wiring, or the car, but theyve been silent. Ill gladly change my review to a 5 star since this is a 5 star product when it works, but it seems like the only way to get these companies to stand by their product is to leave them some negative publicity on their product page. Update 2/23/23 They claim they were delayed due to a Canadian holiday but now theyre shipping me a new unit. I dont know if its because I left a negative review or not, but theyre finally standing by their warranty so Im changing my review to a 5 star like I said since this is a good charger when its not dead.

I bought one nine months ago for more than theyre going for now, and it was worth every penny then. It doesnt have whizzy features that can often be a source of frustration. We have a Toyota RAV 4 PHEV, and it has all the intelligence required, notifying us when charging has begun and when its finished. Ours is mounted inside the garage and draws power from our 2xTesla Powerwalls. We dont have the 6.6KW onboard charger, but it only takes about 5 hours to fully charge the battery with the standard onboard charger. I think its a great product for a rational price.
