Hakko solder station included almost everything I needed for my first attempt to assemble a small 10 meter digital transceiver. The Hakko station has since been used to repair electronic devices (replace defective solar sensors, add led indicators to weather station power supply), jewelry, and attach connectors to coax. The station is well made, has a small footprint, and quickly heats to, and maintains, a stable working temperature. The included solder tips are easy to maintain. I couldnt have made a better choice and expect to get years of service.

Best soldering station I ever bought. A friend of mine said it is the last soldering station I will ever need to buy. Very happy with everything it has. From a wide range of temperature to a wire Brillo pad it is the best of the best in my opinion.

Even I can solder with this outfit! Heats up fast, very good temperature control. Very happy user!

Used a couple of time now and is really great to have a soldering iron that holds its temperature and is a breeze to use.

I 100% agree with Nick M.s review - this item is not for professional use. I am an IPC-A-610 certified solder operator / solder inspector, I use Weller WXMP soldering iron at work. Of course it is not fair to compare $1k item with $100 item, but I expect proper functionality from both. My major inconvenience is related to tips as well - the wetting is kind of weird, when you take some solder, the drop of it doesnt stay on the edge, but rather climbs up 3-4 mm, which makes soldering process inconvenient. Ive found a temporarily solution - to use a bent tip, the drop of solder does the same, but at least I am able to touch the soldering point with it - it is not precise such at the tip is thicker at 3-4 mm from the edge, but at least it works. It doesnt work for soldering using a microscope though. I would replace this station as soon as I will be ready to invest $500-$600 into Wellers single WXMP station (at work I use a dual one) for my home hobby projects, but I wouldnt recommend this particular Hakko station for any precise or professional soldering. I regret about this purchase and will not buy Hakko tools again, it was not a good experiment to save some money on an important for me item.

granted I was coming from a Radio Shack (no base) soldering iron, so it didnt take much but I have to say this has surpassed my expectations. Just make sure to get the tin for your tips and watch some videos on proper soldering technique.

This worked perfectly for the flux capacitor!

Bought this after reading tons of recommendations on electronics forums to replace an old radio shack iron. It heats up to 350C in about 5 seconds and stays hot the whole time. Kimco Distributing is listed on Hakkos site as an authorized distributor so you know you arent getting one of the cheap clones.
