These are much thicker, take longer to drain, and are prone to clogging. Your current recipe will not work with these. Get the filters without the tab instead.

The Hario V60 is well-loved for the clean, bright flavor it produces with coffee brewed in it. Part of that bright flavor is due to the spiral grooves in the filter cone, which let the paper stand off from the cone and assist in the rapid drawdown. But the proprietary filter papers produced by Hario are an important part of the process. These filters are cone shaped and designed to fit the large, single hole at the bottom of the filter cone itself. While you can adapt a #2 Melitta filter, the results arent as brightly flavored as coffee made with the Hario filter. But because the Melitta filters are available everywhere, Ive come up with a lifehack for making coffee with your Hario if you run out of filters. To adapt the Melitta filter, simply make a fold along the seamed edge so that there is a single point rather than the straight line at the bottom of the Melitta. This will let you place the point in the hole in the Hario filter, and you can brew coffee with the Melitta paper filter. If you love bright, acidic, Third-Wave light roast coffee, you will be disappointed by the performance of the Melitta paper in the Hario V60 cone. But hey, its better than not drinking coffee -- or worse yet, drinking *shudder* instant coffee, right?

Dont be fooled by the imitation products. These are the authentic japanese made filters that are meant to accompany the v60 system. No paper taste and they drain quickly so the coffee doesnt get bitter. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra few bucks, you will be very happy you did.

Great filters, cant get a cleaner more balanced cup than with these.

These filters are awesome for v60 coffee, you just need to use hot water on them before putting the coffee because they have a lot of paper flavour

Look at other reviews here before buying this product. If you have been using a Hario V60 for a while and have used the previous filters you know this version is a pain on the butt. MY packaging says VCF-02-100W-JW (the JW seems to be the difference). The old filters were version VCF-02-100W. There is definitely a difference.
