> 3 dayPerfect for my Christmas decorations around the house. I don’t need to get up to see if I remember to turn all the christmas lights/decorations off. I can control them now on my phone. BUT, I had a hard time installing or pairing it to my phone. Here’s my situation and how I solved it and made it work after an hour. First, make sure your wifi 2.4GHz is on. I have verizon fios and though I have a dual wifi connection, I’ve only been using the 5Ghz. I couldn’t find my 2.4ghz on my wifi list. So I did some research and had to turn off or disable the SON under wifi settings on fios app. Unplug my router and plug it back in after a minute or two then bam! it shows up. So when I got my phone connected to 2.4, I went ahead and start the pairing. This thing didn’t come with instruction so I went back to this page and read the manual. You will need to download the app “smart life” or simply scan the QR barcode in the back of the device. Then you will need to set the device up on pairing mode by press and hold either of the white button and the light blinks and it should be now visible on your phone. Then connect. Now, if you want to connect your phone back to 5Ghz(because I think it’s much faster than 2.4) all you gotta do is connect your device to alexa. Then you caan forget about the smart life app really because you can navigate or control your device thru alexa. As long as your device is connected to the 2.4ghz network your fine and that’s all that matters. I hope this helps! I highly recommend this and I might get one more set. F

> 3 dayI bought 2 sets of these. The genius 12 yr old had no problems setting it up with his Alexa in his room. I wasnt able to set up the one for my living room.. it requires downloading an app, then marrying up Alexa and the app. Too complicated for me. I gave up and bought another kind that didnt require a separate app to work through Alexa in my living room.

> 3 dayLove the product and end result but SO frustrating to figure out directions for set up. Needed to use apps and Alexa internet source etc. Finally before giving up completely I found directions on You-Tube which were easily followed. So yes now I can ask Alexa to turn on 2 things whenever I want them one. Works great

> 3 dayTook 30 minutes to set up. I have 2 lamps on one plug and a Amazon plug for third lamp all in my living room. I have to say two different commands to put on the 3 lamps. Makes no sense. May send back the HBN smart plug. I wish Amazon had a plug for three lamps. Ugh. 4/16/23: I figured how to have all 3 lamps on the one plug. I just say Alexa turn on living light and all lamps go on at the same time n same as off. Update:4/30/23: My lights go out for no reason and I have to repeat myself to turn it on. This item seems to be junk.

21-11-2024So far I like it. But I cant say too much about the original HBN app, because I deleted it and I am currently using the Smart Life app instead. The instruction leaflet that the socket came with can use a little updating. It was confusing and it took several tries to add the smart socket to the app. The app itself was not too confusing, but it still took several tries to connect the device. Then when I went to link the socket to my Alexa it gave me an error in the Alexa app. It said the app was not current. Well I was not able to update the HBN app, possibly because it is the most recent version. Alexa then also gave me an option to switch to the Smart Life app. At first I thought oh is this the updated version and since I already had the app for my other sockets I use, I just switched over and everything just automatically linked after I connected the app to socket. What a breeze. It turns out the Smart Life app is a totally different app all together and it seems to serve as a catch-all app for many of the different brand devices out there. In fact the other sockets that I was already using the app for were for a totally different brand.

> 3 dayBought this smart double plug to control under cabinet LEDs in our kitchen. I was already frustrated that the lights were taking 2 outlets and I didnt want to have to use 2 smart plugs - this was the perfect solution! It plugs in to a single plug and was super simple to set up with our Google Home. Its been about a week and so far no issues, just a much more convenient life! Will definitely consider HBN smart plugs in the future because their systems are so simple to set up and their configurations are so unique.
