The pre-filters were so folded that they gap and dont fully cover the HEPA filters as they should. Also some are noticeable thinner than others. (See the last two photos to compare). The quality of these pre-filters is very inconsistent. I understand they have to be folded to fit in the box, but that renders the inner two filters of every box USELESS. I purchased Honeywell brand because I wanted quality (vs. a knock-off brand) and was disappointed with the quality I received anyway. Are these just old and have been stored in an Amazon warehouse for a long time and thats why theyre so folded (due to the weight of the other filters sitting on them)?! Possibly. Either way, I wish these were either packaged better or stored better, and it would be nice if the filters were all the same thickness.

These filters fit perfectly in my Honeywell HPA 300 air purifier. It is convenient to have all the filters in one package. I wish they weren’t so pricey.

Trust in Honeywell. Only gripe is the pre-filter is not precut, but not a big deal to measure and cut. Not worth complaining about, only stating for sake of disclosure.

After paying $225 for Honeywell HPA300 True HEPA Air Purifier, the Amazons Choice for HEPA air purifiers for large rooms, I wanted to order a one year supply of the carbon pre-filters and of the HEPA filters, but the Honeywell replacement filters set was not available. So I made the mistake of not waiting for them to comeback in stock and ordered an off-brand version of filters that fit the Honeywell HPA300 Air Purifier, which, I soon found out, are less expensive and COMPATIBLE, but definitely NOT COMPARABLE with the quality and fit of the filters that come installed in the Honeywell HPA300 Air Purifier. After 3 months, I replaced the original carbon pre-filter with one of the off-brand carbon pre-filters. I slowly started to realize that the air did not smell or feel as clean as before. I had to run the unit on higher settings longer and more often, and the air was never as clean as it was before. Even the sound of the unit had become more annoying. After 3 months, I expected the warning light to come on to tell me to change the filter, but I kept waiting and nothing happened. Thats when I took out the off-brand carbon pre-filter and looked at it against the light and realized I could see right through it. I installed a second one of the off-brand carbon pre-filters, because it was all I had, but I immediately ordered the Honeywell True HEPA Filter Value Combo Pack for HPA300 Series Air Purifier. When the Honeywell filter set arrived, I immediately replaced the carbon pre-filter in the unit. The filter was more solid, heavier, thicker and less see-through the the less expensive off-brand ones. On the lowest setting, immediately the air felt fresher and the smells vanished. The sound of the unit got softer. This is why I bought the Honeywell HPA300. I suffer from both allergies and chemical sensitivities, and the carbon, now I know, is what traps and removes the perfume and chemical fumes, as well as smoke and odors. The off-brand filter was not packed with as much carbon as the one made by Honeywell and it just was not up to the task. COMPATIBLE, but definitely NOT COMPARABLE with the quality of the filters made by Honeywell for the HPA300 Air Purifier. It is the filter that makes the air purifier effective and I had sabotaged my air purifier with a cheap carbon filter.

Perfect fit, easy install if you even want to call it that. Lot cheaper than Home Depot.

After much research, I originally ordered the best generic version of these. Bad idea. The outer (black) macro filter was the right shape but less fine than Honeywells. But the generic version failed because the HEPA filter did not fit snuggly, letting all sorts of particles be drawn through the admittedly very small gaps, but then were talking REALLY small particle. The net effect was to make the rooms air worse by blowing the particles around. These work perfectly. The outer filter is finer and the HEPA filters fit very snug; in fact they are a bit difficult to insert because they are so snug. The unit is once again working great. So, yes, these cost more but they are worth it. Absolutely buy these IMHO.
