> 3 dayI live in Southern California with AT&T carrier. This phone picks up 4G signal averaging 50 to 65 MB down and 30+ up when outside on the street; but when you are deep inside a supermarket it drops to like 3G speed of up to 6 MB down. That is due to the phone only having LTE band 2, 4 and 5 and lacks 12 and 17 for deeper building penetration and falls back to slower bandwidth. At home I can get 4G 50 MB down and about 3 to 4 MB up. For daily normal usage this is all fine. I am able to make or get calls anywhere I go. I got this phone JSN-L23 from lifeline786 and came with an US USB charger, which was a nice surprise. The clear, soft case that came with the phone doesnt have perfect cut out; so I bought my own perfect case from Spigen. Overall this phone has a nice weight and premium feel, and at $207 it is a real bargain. The call quality and ear piece are loud and clear or grade A. The speaker is decent and loud enough or grade B+. It doesnt have a lot of bloatware and I was actually able to uninstall more than half dozen apps. It has a great screen and responsive. With light use the battery can last more than two days. However it does have a one weakness which could bother some users. The WIFI on this particular model is not dual band. It doesnt support 5Ghz WIFI. If your modem has dual band 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz, it only connects to 2.4Ghz. I am only able to get about 27 MB to 35 MB down. My 5-year old phone can go up to 85 to 90 MB down. It is not a deal breaker because even with slower WIFI the phone is still pretty snappy and responsive. I mean who really needs 95 MB download speed on a cell phone. If this lack of dual band WIFI doesnt bother you, then I think at this price it is a steal.

Greater than one weekThis phone is amazing. It comes with a case in the box, and a screen protector on the phone! It comes with everything you need in the box, and has been updated to work on Android Pi, which is pretty impressive. The phone is fast and responsive, and the display has remarkably good blacks for a non-oled display. EMUI 9 isnt even that bad, but I did replace the launcher with Nova Launcher, and its just amazing now. Warning: Dont take the screen protector off of it until you are SURE the new one fits. Ive ordered glass screen protectors from two companies now, and neither fit correctly. The one flaw with this phone may be finding screen protectors that fit it well. Did I mention it has two sim card slots AND a microSD slot? A lot of phones in this price range make you choose between the second sim and the microSD.

> 3 dayAs a long time Huawei supporter (even via their big stores in Hainan) I am really taken back with the difficulties with this product. I cant get stock photos deleted, so theyre mixed with my kids pictures on my rotating lock screen. My photos sync to Google Photos (while in the USA) but the option to free space is not working. The bloatware stinks because, as a US citizen, I cannot sign up for Huawei - there isnt even my country on the drop down. This really does sadden me. I brag on Huawei all the time. At least 10 people have thia brand from my recommendations (software guy here - people assume I know everything about all things computers). :/

> 3 dayOne month review. I am on Metro by T-Mobile network in an urban area. Previously owned a ZTE Zmax Pro, to give context for my level of performance expectation. Overall, I love the Honor 8x for my needs. I purchased through MVD Mobile since their reviews seemed positive and in order to make sure I got the US model. Here are my pros and cons with some tips at the end: Pros 1. Price – Best cost-to-feature ratio of the unlocked phones on Amazon. No regrets there. 2. Battery Life – incredible! I get to the end of the day with over 50% of my battery, and often much more than that. I use my phone for work conference calls throughout the day, and now I never fear that I my phone will die. 3. Hardware – Form factor is perfect for someone with larger hands. Build quality is solid and feels like any premium flagship phone. Love the aesthetic too. Comes with a nice clear case. 4. Screen – Excellent resolution and color options. Comes with a screen protector installed. The notch is small enough to leave room for notification icons. 5. Software – It took a couple weeks to get used to EMUI, but I’m liking it. The settings menu is quite extensive with customization options, which to me is a plus. Out of the box I had EMUI 8, but I received the system upgrade to EMUI 9 (Android Pie) within a couple weeks. Things I love: quick setting for volume silence mode, look/feel of multitasking, YouTube picture-in-picture function, and split screen app capability. And you can get third party launchers and keyboards like with any Android phone. 6. Performance - I have had very few stutters when scrolling. Very responsive phone. Cons 1. Video motion blur – I haven’t seen others complain about this, but I have noticed it across any app that plays video. While the HD 1080p resolution is just fine, whenever there is motion onscreen it is slightly blurred, like the refresh rate is not keeping up. It’s not a deal-breaker and I’ve gotten used to it, but since I watch a lot of videos on my phone it is annoying. 2. LTE Network – While I do have LTE coverage on Metro LTE bands 2 & 4, I would say the coverage is weaker than my ZTE phone which had bands 2, 4, and 12. I notice this most often when I’m inside large buildings. 3. Camera – I heard great reviews so my expectations were a little higher. Its just okay. I have had just average results both indoors and outdoors. Shutter button response is not super fast, especially in AI mode. But I don’t use the camera much anyway. Video recording is adequate if using a tripod. Tips, Tricks, Things I’ve Learned 1. EMUI Themes – I played around with the themes and wanted to share one caution. If you find custom themes online or in the Play store, be careful about adjusting your system font. If you edit your font, it will change EVERY instance of text on your phone, and there is no easy way to revert back to the default font. You have to side-load an APK file in order to reveal the font settings option on your phone. Google “EMUI font enabler APK” for more info on that. 2. RAM management & Battery Optimization – While 4gb of RAM is enough to keep apps active in the background, the phone will still close apps in order to aggressively save battery. There is a way to customize this, but it is deep in the settings menu. Settings > Apps > Apps > Special Access > Battery Optimization > Filter for All Apps > select an app you want to avoid aggressive RAM Management > Don’t Allow. Overall, no regrets. If youre just looking for a reliable phone with great screen and battery life, and you dont care much about camera quality, this is a steal.

> 3 dayIve had this phone for a few years, and I am about to purchase a different brand phone for more storage options.... But I must give credit where it is due. This phone has worked well and continues to work well consistently. I am sure I still havent explored all of the various features, but it was an excellent, excellent value for a budget phone. I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayThis phone is great. It is literally like an iPhone xs max but better, for less than a fraction of the cost. The size is great! The display is beautiful! The notch is hardly noticable! Its super fast and smooth. I have cricket and my phone has no problem using a cricket sim. The display is bright and beautiful. The face unlock is really good! Only sometimes when youre in a darker area the ephone cant really read youre face which is understandable. The phone charges so quick! And the battery last a while (and I love to watch shows and movies all day). Ive only had it for a day so I havent tried out the camera quality yet(Ill update In a few days when I do) over a this phone is amazing( the fact that I got is for less than. $200 is a steal!!!) You will be very satisfied if you get this phone trust me.

> 3 dayVery good phone for the money. Love the color and the heft. It feels good in the hand although very slippery without a case. Seems very well made and is very much like my Galaxy. Will not connect to my work wi-fi. Excellent camera and great functionality

Greater than one weekIve had this phone for 2 days now. Its a great phone. A little taller than most phones but it takes getting used to. Very fast great screen quality. Pictures are really good. Speaker isnt the best but it gets the job done. I activated it with straight talk and you do only get 4g but speed test in my area it runs faster than 4glte. If you are activating with straight talk you have to buy a new Sim card. It is compatible with AT&T. The battery life is great too. I get about an hour for 10 percent of constant use. The notifications are all the same sound. Not sure how to change it. I switched from the Samsung galaxy s8 and this phone runs much smoother and faster than a galaxy s8!
