This is pretty good phone to use in the USA, even though, it is a international version with not warranty in the USA. The last part is clear(Warranty) However, the seller did not mentioned that they are selling this phones with the system updated blocked to the latest updated (Pie/EMUI 9.0 Android) The seller (Mobile International LLC) should have detailed that part of this product, regardless. I felt like I was cheated. There is reason why developers work days and nights created new updates. What is the point to spend $200 some dollars in a phone that it is not allow to be up to date with the latest update. Update: On May 15, following an executive order from President Donald Trump effectively banning Huawei from US communications Networks. Then on May 19, Google cuts off Huawei phones from future Android updates. What does the Google block mean for Huawei phone users? Google has pulled Huaweis Android license blocking Huawei from using Android apps on its devices. At the moment, Huawei phones run on Googles Android mobile operating system (OS) and the security features which come with Android, will continue to be available on existing Huawei devices, so it seems like your current Huawei devices is safe for now. However, some Huawei models included Honor 8X and Huawei p20 pro will NOT be possible to download or receiving the latest updates, stable Android 9.0 Pie/EMUI and EMUI 9.1 these two updates are necessary for the best performance.

I live in rural Indiana and the phone has no issues with working on the AT&T network. Because of where I live I do not always get 4g LTE coverage but the phone still works flawlessly. When I am in a bigger area the phone does connect to 4G LTE with no issues. These phones still out perform any previous phone I have had and cost a fraction of the money.

I purchased 2 of these and neither will work with MetroPCS in the Dallas area. Network not found. While not a cell phone expert, Im not a newbie either and have invested over an hour trying to get connected (2G, 3G or LTE). The phones can read the sim cards because it displays the phone number and the metropcs APN info. Just no signal capture. I am going to reach out to the vendor and see if there is something Im overlooking but methinks the 8x is a no-go in the DFW area. My review is a 3 because while the phone seems pretty great, it does me no good if it wont connect to MetroPCS as my expectations had been set via the description and other Amazon review comments, thus a middle of the road review rating.

The phone is beautiful for the price. It does not feel or look cheap. It comes with Android 8.2 and from I have been reading, it doesnt seem it will upgrade to 9.0 in the US. I have not had any issues with apps, wi-fi, or bluetooth. The only thing I have had a problem with is making calls. I can make calls but after a few minutes, my end of the conversation drops. I can hear the other person but they cant hear me. It doesnt happen all the time so its weird why it does in the first place. If youre someone who needs to be on the phone constantly for work or whatever, then I might pass on this phone.

Ive been using this phone for a few weeks now and I havent had one single issue with it. It performs just as well as my S9 plus. It works perfectly fine on AT&T. I live in an area where usually service is terrible(I had Tmobile from where I lived previously and that wouldnt come in at all here) I get 4gLTE most of the time. My house it bounces between 3g and 4g. I absolutely recommend this phone especially for the price.

One month review. I am on Metro by T-Mobile network in an urban area. Previously owned a ZTE Zmax Pro, to give context for my level of performance expectation. Overall, I love the Honor 8x for my needs. I purchased through MVD Mobile since their reviews seemed positive and in order to make sure I got the US model. Here are my pros and cons with some tips at the end: Pros 1. Price – Best cost-to-feature ratio of the unlocked phones on Amazon. No regrets there. 2. Battery Life – incredible! I get to the end of the day with over 50% of my battery, and often much more than that. I use my phone for work conference calls throughout the day, and now I never fear that I my phone will die. 3. Hardware – Form factor is perfect for someone with larger hands. Build quality is solid and feels like any premium flagship phone. Love the aesthetic too. Comes with a nice clear case. 4. Screen – Excellent resolution and color options. Comes with a screen protector installed. The notch is small enough to leave room for notification icons. 5. Software – It took a couple weeks to get used to EMUI, but I’m liking it. The settings menu is quite extensive with customization options, which to me is a plus. Out of the box I had EMUI 8, but I received the system upgrade to EMUI 9 (Android Pie) within a couple weeks. Things I love: quick setting for volume silence mode, look/feel of multitasking, YouTube picture-in-picture function, and split screen app capability. And you can get third party launchers and keyboards like with any Android phone. 6. Performance - I have had very few stutters when scrolling. Very responsive phone. Cons 1. Video motion blur – I haven’t seen others complain about this, but I have noticed it across any app that plays video. While the HD 1080p resolution is just fine, whenever there is motion onscreen it is slightly blurred, like the refresh rate is not keeping up. It’s not a deal-breaker and I’ve gotten used to it, but since I watch a lot of videos on my phone it is annoying. 2. LTE Network – While I do have LTE coverage on Metro LTE bands 2 & 4, I would say the coverage is weaker than my ZTE phone which had bands 2, 4, and 12. I notice this most often when I’m inside large buildings. 3. Camera – I heard great reviews so my expectations were a little higher. Its just okay. I have had just average results both indoors and outdoors. Shutter button response is not super fast, especially in AI mode. But I don’t use the camera much anyway. Video recording is adequate if using a tripod. Tips, Tricks, Things I’ve Learned 1. EMUI Themes – I played around with the themes and wanted to share one caution. If you find custom themes online or in the Play store, be careful about adjusting your system font. If you edit your font, it will change EVERY instance of text on your phone, and there is no easy way to revert back to the default font. You have to side-load an APK file in order to reveal the font settings option on your phone. Google “EMUI font enabler APK” for more info on that. 2. RAM management & Battery Optimization – While 4gb of RAM is enough to keep apps active in the background, the phone will still close apps in order to aggressively save battery. There is a way to customize this, but it is deep in the settings menu. Settings > Apps > Apps > Special Access > Battery Optimization > Filter for All Apps > select an app you want to avoid aggressive RAM Management > Don’t Allow. Overall, no regrets. If youre just looking for a reliable phone with great screen and battery life, and you dont care much about camera quality, this is a steal.
