I just built my rig and I had the decision to go with an i3 or an i5. Im glad I went with the i5. Simply because it has more cores and itll be able to support some of the new graphics cards coming out. I know theres i7 etc, but this one just works right off the bat for me and I havent had any problems with it. Would definitely recommend it.

It has become just about impossible to get a graphics card in 2021 so CPUs with integrated graphics are the way to go for building computers that do not need one. I really cant express how happy my father is that his new PC is about 10x faster than his old one. This little beast can run over 4ghz and has more than enough graphics power for nongaming or creative software. I would highly recommend this chip for normal users.

I needed a new build at a time when everything was out of stock, so opted for this i5, which was available immediately, instead of waiting a month for the i7 or the AMD Ryzen 5, which was my first choice. The specs on this processor seemed to surpass the performance on my i7 4790, but its not even close. Slow, glitchy, blue screens. To be fair, its paired with a new mobo, memory, psu, etc., so it may be that theres an incompatibility that pcpartpicker.com didnt anticipate, but given a choice, I would pass on this processor.

I was hoping to build an AMD machine, but Intel CPUs were actually in stock. I picked up the i5-10400 with the intent to upgrade next year. For now, though, I’m really quite pleased! This doesn’t offer overclocking, but it doesn’t affect my experience at all.

I am building my mom a computer and hers is about 15 years behind. I wanted it to be fast for what she does so this seemed like a good way to go. P.C boots quick and is more than plenty for what she does. Runs cool and even includes a small air cooling unit. I put an old GTX 1080 inside and it runs games like pinball beautifully. If youre building a pure gaming machine you may want to go unlocked. I run an I9 10900k for gaming.
