> 3 dayFirst, full disclosure: we have 2 medium size (25 lb) dogs and yes. They shed. The i4 was our solution to cleaning up after them daily. We figured it would be a step up from our Dyson which has maybe a 15 min battery life. We were wrong. I occasionally unplug the base so I can plug something else in for an hour or two. The unit loses roughly 50% of its charge. So the solution to that is…. NEVER unplug the base/charger. It does a great job of cleaning up standard dirt/dust. But it typically just gathers up dog hair and leaves small clumps that I then have to walk around and pick up. The real kicker is, it’s maybe 5-6 months old and we suddenly get an error message. We followed the troubleshooting steps on iRobot’s site and even took the unit apart to ensure NOTHING under the hood was blocked, stuck, not functioning, etc.. We cleaned out the dust bin, replaced the air filter, ensured the cleaning module had zero obstructions, etc.. Nothing fixed the issue. So iRobot’s solution is to replace the cleaning head module for $65-$70…. despite the fact that there is NOTHING wrong with the one currently in the unit. It’s entirely possible the one we got was just defective. And that happens. But In the end, I wouldn’t recommend it for someone with dogs (or cats). It just doesn’t seem cut out for dog hair.

Greater than one weekHave had i4 for a month and am disappointed. On the plus side, it does pick up good and the self-empty feature works good. on the down side, the i4 (basically the same as i3) is random in its vacuuming process. The model is not able to use smart mapping, which is a feature I discovered is available on newer i7 and up models. Smart mapping is really needed on a smart iRobot type vacuum and I wish I knew this before I purchased. I contacted support via email, which took a week to respond, which then confirmed, too bad, your model doesnt have the latest feature and we cant upgrade the firmware Ill keep using it, since it does vacuum, but I am disappointed with the poor programing and features of the i4.

> 3 dayMake home cleaning easy. The I robot rumba is a great addition to a daily cleaning routine. Easy to set up and easy to use.

> 3 dayI can control it from the app which is perfect. I have it for a pet that is staying for a few days and its cleaning up after him each day. its been a pleasure to have in my home. Noise level could be a little more lower, however, it is a vacuum at the end of the day so you should expect to hear it. The dog is afraid of it. lol

> 3 dayAbsolutely nothing special about this things vacuuming ability. I bought this vacuum for our upstairs, roughly 700 sq ft. It takes the Roomba over an hour to do its job and it does an okay job at best, really it needs to do 2 passes 3 times a week to get the pet hair (from 1 cat), which now puts it at over 2 hours to do its job. Spectacularly unimpressive. It gets stuck in odd locations it didnt have a problem with 3 days prior and you have to go save it. After a whopping 2 months, the vacuum broke. I should have bought the warranty but it wouldnt change this review, it would just make it an easier pill to swallow having bought the wrong product, but my takeaway of I should have bought a Dyson would still stand. I understand things break and the replacement parts arent very expensive but I wouldnt have bought any product with these kinds of issues. This product definitely does NOT need vacuum bags. Unneeded design add-on to help drive up the price. A bin the customers could have dumped would have been just as easy to include in the design. I ordered some pocket zippers and hot glued them onto the back of a few bags I cut a slit in, and now I have reusable bags. Works Great! 10 out of 10 on a product idea. 3 out of 10 on product execution. Overall it doesnt vacuum very well, its slow, its noisy, it takes more maintenance than youd expect from a vacuum, especially a vacuum with a higher price tag. Cool idea, still a long way to go before this is a good product.

> 3 dayThis is my first iRobot but third Robot-Vacuum. So far, I’m very pleased. Once it maps the house it’s off. Best part is I don’t have to remember to empty the bin.

> 3 dayI have two cats, so theres cat hair and litter everywhere in my apartment. The room with the litter box needs vacuumed daily, as well as the kitchen which is adjacent (both are linoleum flooring). The irobot Roomba does a pretty good job, but sometimes it misses things and I can still see cat litter on the floor after it vacuums. Not much though, and it really beats having to do it manually myself everyday. I vacuum the carpeted spaces once a week to once every two weeks. Sometimes it doesnt pick up the cat hair on the carpet, but it will bunch it up into clumps that are easy enough for me to pick up by hand. It does pick up a good amount of hair though. Ive had it for a couple of months now and Ive had to clean out the dirt bag maybe 3 times; Im cheap and environmentally conscious, so when the bag gets full Ive been pulling the dirt and hair and stuff out manually instead of throwing the bag away and having to replace it. So in doing that, I can see that it does pick-up a ton of stuff. The battery life is good, and yeah its loud like a lot of the reviews say, but it isnt that bad. If you can get it on sale, its worth it.
