Its a Wrap: Sewing Fabric Purses, Baskets, and Bowls

> 3 dayIn the 1.3 years that Ive had this book, and worked on this craft, Ive gotten enormous pleasure combining fabrics and colors and shaping bowls, hot pads, totes, hats and more, most of which Ive given to very appreciative friends and relatives. Susan Breier makes the process easy to undertand and follow, and the bright color photos offer many jumping-off points for individual creativity! My only caveat is that it is imperative to have a heavy-duty sewing machine and thick, sharp needles to get through the layers of fabric and clothesline smoothly. I pretty much destroyed an old Singer Futura I used at the beginning - but liked the craft so much that I bought a refurbished Bernina with a stronger motor and more durable parts, and it handles these projects, over and over, like sewing through butter. I enjoy that the craft isnt very exacting, like quilting, since Im not fond of meticulous cutting and sewing tasks. I get loads of compliments on my own pocketbooks and totes that Ive created, and its fun to explain to folks how theyre made.

> 3 dayBought this book because I had borrowed my friends for far too long. Great book to get you started with this type of craft. I disagree with this author on one issue. When cutting the fabric it should be cut on the bias (less chance of fraying).

> 3 dayThis book gives me inspiration for a new challenge... fabric baskets! When I get finished with sewing projects, basketry projects and painting projects, I will have a new craft to look forward too!!!

Greater than one weekId bought this book because of reviews Id read on the sewing forums. It was more difficult than I thought to find the cotton clothesline than I expected, but once I found some, I havent stopped. Its really addictive - wrapping scrap fabric around the clothesline, then sewing the coil to form baskets of differing shapes. The book is well-written, with lots of illustrations, to make it easy for sewers. Even beginning sewists can be successful - essentially you only need to be able zig-zag to construct your baskets. These baskets make really neat gifts as well - much better than Amish Friendship Bread!

> 3 dayIf you are into Wrapping, this book will give you lots of inspiration. Also, this book will encourage the beginner to try more difficult but awesome wrapping projects. Cant wait to try a few of them myself. Instructions are easy to follow as well.

> 3 dayThis is a book that I will enjoy for many years. It has so much information in it on how to use scrap fabrics and clothesline to make baskets, rugs and just some fun things. I love the book and I can hardly wait to get started on some projects of my own.
