This product has already come in handy. Ive used it multiple times to identify live wires. I also used it to identify switched outlets in each room of my new house. It works flawlessly.

The operative thing in using this device safely is to always test it first on a circuit known to be live. The reason is that it is battery operated and if the batteries are weak or arent making a good internal connection to the device, you may not get a reading. That said this tester is much better than the one I had previously from a different manufacture, which had a press-on cap that would often come loose when trying to switch the unit on. On this one, the cap screws on and the switch is a momentary contact pushbutton making it much more reliable. Because it is dual range, read the directions carefully. I copied the instruction chart to keep with the unit because I dont use it often.

I work in a powerplant where I have varying levels of voltage, its either an electrical motor or a Remote interface for a controller network. It is worth the cash to have this extra amount of insurance to make sure you dont get hurt and inspire a safety brief in your honor. If you work in an industrial setting, you should have one of these in your pocket. Buy one, it may save your life.

This is one of those products I always wanted but never thought I’d buy and I’m glad I did. I do 75% of all my own home repairs/upgrades and this is a must have in my electricians tool box. I use it so much more than I thought I ever would and feel so much more safe when I work around the house.

Love the duel range on the non-contact tester. Makes troubleshooting much easier. And the receptacle tester is a handy bonus too. You could could go cheap with another brand but ...
