> 3 dayThis speaker wire is true 12ga speaker wire, there is nothing in between the strands of wire. The wire is very flexible. The speaker wire has a black stripe on one side designating negative or positive. I purchased 75 feet to rewire an A/V receiver and an integrated amp., both Yamaha. The wire was delivered in plastic bags instead of on a spool. No problem for me, probably saves money on pricing. Soldering terminal spades to end of wire did not harm the sheathing, I was amazed that the sheathing did not burn or shrink as most wires do. Yes this is a very high quality speaker wire, I would give it a 100 stars if I could, and it’s extremely reasonably priced. Definitely purchase.

Greater than one weekDont believe the reviews that say this is copper wire. It is not copper, it is Aluminum (60% of the conductivity of Copper) it is not blue clad, it is clear insulated, like every other inexpensive piece of speaker wire you have ever seen. It is not 50 ft of speaker wire, it is 25 feet of two conductor aluminum speaker wire which in someones mind equates to 50 feet (25 x 2) This vendor Knu Koncepts is not sending out what they advertise. Greater than one weekThis is great speaker wire, and is extremely bendy, durable, and arrived three days before its estimated arrival. However, it did not come on a spool , as it was just a big circle.
Plain and Simple Specifications
- Wire type - CCA or OFC
These materials are commonly used, but not commonly stated when shopping online. Know what you are purchasing. Both metals are capable of performing up to their rated loads.
- American Wire Gauge
Wire gauge is crucial to powering your system correctly. Undersized cable will create unsafe conditions and may shorten your amplifier"s life.
True American Wire Gauge (AWG) Products
- Using American Wire Gauge standards, the gauge of stranded wire is determined by the total area of the conductor.
- To calculate this you would take the area of each strand and add it together. This area, in square mm, then determines gauge.
- Speaker Wire is often written as 12-2 or 12/2. This means 12 gauge x 2 conductor, both positive and negative signal are carried within one cable and are each 12 gauge.
- Diameter is not as critical with stranded wire, this is due to the tiny air gaps between each strand. Diameter may fluctuate with strand size and how tightly wound the rope of the cable is.
- The smaller the number, the larger the wire, until you reach zero or aught (0). Most speaker wire ranges from 10 to 16 gauge. 18 to 22 gauge is often much too thin for most Home Theater applications.
- Based on AWG, the true gauge of this cable is 12 Gauge
