This is the second item Ive ordered from Komals Passion Leather. I recognized the name and I immediately chose a bag from this small company versus the other 3 I had in my cart that I liked the look of - because I already KNEW the quality if Kormals would be 5 stars. He puts SO MUCH thought into every single detail that you cant not help noticing and being impressed. All, I mean even the zippers!, of the metal clasps on the bag were individually wrapped so as not to damage the leather. Normal also sent a personal letter explaining the process of how he created the bag, and the best way to take care of it. Again - I am one highly satisfied customer! Ima stalk him on the IG too because Im obsessed with the beautiful craftmanship. Thank you!

30 years of carrying a leather briefcase makes me know it all (just ask me) and heres my take: Case has a number of divisions that simplifies segregation of documents with room to carry my dell xps and precision. Beautiful leather & craftsmanship with natural leather aroma. Minor assembly issue on shoulder strap buckle to which KPL replied to my email within 3 hours. Shipped replacement strap shortly after. Didnt impact functionality of case and proved quality of service KPL provides. My next one, without doubt, will be from KPL.

In a year where its easy to be negative - this bag was a bright spot. It arrived a day earlier than estimated - and the surprises kept coming. I was amazed at how well it was packaged. Aside from multiple layers of plastic, it had a protective fiber bag encapsulating it. The leather is beautiful. The bag looks fantastic. Its distressed finish is amazing. Ive seen a number of these types of bags and one wonders what dumpster they dug it out of. Not this one. Aside from all the beautiful leather, it has a nice internal fabric that seems to perfectly complement the style. The bag feels roomy without looking huge. So much care was paid to ensure that it arrived in mint condition. EVERY metal item - buckles, zippers, clasps, and rivet - had foam, tape or plastic (or a combination of all of them) to ensure that the leather was not marked by the metal during shipment. Im just so impressed. I just keep thinking that I found the best value of 2020. Awarding five stars just somehow feels inadequate.

I absolutely love this. It’s everything and more than I expected. Very good craftsmanship and very well made. I love the thick leather and the leather smell isn’t strong at all. It holds my 17.3” Laptop perfectly and has lots of pockets and dividers right where they need to be. It even has a zipper pocket on the outside back of the satchel. It came with a personally signed letter. One of my favorite parts is that the leather was hand tanned in the sun using only vegetable oils. There are zero chemicals used. I’m so impressed. Get it now before the price goes up it’s so worth every Penny. It’s perfect. It’s now November and Here’s my update. I’ve had no problems at all. I’ve had a lot of compliments and the bag has remained supple and will stand on its own still. It’s perfect and the cost is better than most. I am still 110% satisfied.

This is the real deal. A quality product at a reasonable price. There is lots of organization within the satchel. I especially like the rear zippered compartment which allows you to place documents without having to open the satchel. The locking system for the front straps is a great addition to this product. Having to undo the straps, like a belt, each time you wanted to get into the main compartments of the interior would get old pretty fast. So really nice job on this. I have been very pleased with the communications I have had with Komal. There was a slight defect in the strap which was initially sent to me. Normally I would not have worried, except I am a teacher and I put a lot of stuff into my satchel. The last thing I needed was for the strap to break. I shared my concerns with Komal, and also suggested shortening the length of the strap. Im 64 and the satchel hung lower than I would have liked, even on the shortest setting. He said that the next time he went into production, he would make it a couple of inches shorter. And thats exactly what he did. A few days ago I received the strap via priority mail. There were no defects and the length of the strap was shorter. Thank you Komal! I need to write more about this amazing product, but I need to upload pictures first. First off, Id like to say that I was NOT compensated nor provided with a review copy or anything of the sort, in exchange for my review. This is simply a review for the purposes of shedding some light on topics associated with this product that Ive experienced. I will address quality, detailing, and the infamous smell (spoiler alert: it doesnt smell). At the end, I will go over some things you can do to make the bag even better. I wont add pictures because others have uploaded them, and my bag looks exactly as those pictures do. Quality: This bag looks like it can easily be a $200-$400 bag. The leather is very good quality, feels soft, yet durable. When I open the flaps, they feel durable and tough, not cheaply made. It is a finely crafted piece, and it certainly does not skimp on important details to the structural integrity of the bag. The zippers feel a bit stiff, in a way reminiscent of more expensive products; it seems meant to be opened slowly, with care and precision. This is not a bag you would treat or zip up like you would a $20 Jansport. Shoulder strap works well and feels comfortable, and the buckles are tough. Detailing: It seems to me like this bag was handmade (It comes from India, I believe) and it shows. That can be a good or bad thing, depending on personal taste. For me, it is a good thing. The canvas stitching sometimes leaves a tiiiiiiny bumped up piece of string, and some of the rivets look placed by hand (deviation of about 0.15 inches on rivet placement, what holds the leather straps on the product picture in place. The smell: There are many people talking about a god-awful smell that is reminiscent of farmhouse or a dirty animal. Based on my receipt of the product, I have come to two possible conclusions: 1. People are grossly over-exaggerating the smell for whatever reason. 2. Komals Passion Leather addressed and fixed the problem that was causing the potent odor claimed in so many other reviews. Perhaps it is the second one, or I got lucky. To describe my experience, I was fearfully opening the packaging, expecting to have my olfactory bulb assaulted any second now, until... Nothing. No smell. I pressed my nose up close and smelled it; it smells like true leather. High quality leather, reminiscent of what one would find in an upscale store, such as a Saks 5th Ave. I went to a Saks 5th Ave recently to look at leather bags and out of curiosity, took a whiff (a good test for ascertaining leather quality, in my opinion) and lo and behold, the leather in this ritzy upscale store smelled... Like dog. That grainy, maple syrup smell some dogs get is what that bag in the store reminded me of. It was real, quality leather, and THAT is what this bag will smell like. Actually, I found the KPL bags scent to be less offensive, smelling faintly of a grassland. All in all, I believe this purchase is a steal at $73. I would buy this bag 100 times over, especially since it seems to be coming from a hard-working small business over. As a bonus, Komal (I hope thats his name) seems to be very responsive to people who have had issues with his product, as made evident by plenty of other reviews (I personally have had no interactions with him). So now, for some recommendations: -Treat it with a leather conditioner to loosen up some of the stiffness on the leather, and provide it with some protection against general use and the elements. The brand I used is Leather Honey. Provides protection and repels the elements without hardening your leather even more. A microfiber cloth is best to use. -Gently toy with the bag for a while. Meaning, open up the flaps, the zippers, get a feel for what the bag is like, and make it pliable to your needs. -Be aware that the clamps on the straps feel a bit rough, so some treatment may be needed for them (lubrication, against rusting) though I have no idea what to use. It could just be an inconsequential detail and I may have the wrong idea. In summary, this was an incredible buy and am very happy. It looks like this is a good business to support with excellent service and product. Seems handmade, which can be good or bad depending on taste, and there is no overwhelming smell. The metal used may need treatment to resist rusting, but this is speculation on my part.

This bag is really nice and seems to be a good quality for the price. The shoulder strap is a little smaller and flimsier than I would like. The part that should support and rest on your shoulder flows freely and doesn’t stay in place. Aside from that it’s what we needed.

Leather Messenger bag was packaged neatly in pretty organza bag. The leather on this bag was thin, pliable, naturally colored and blemished in a few places as to be expected. The smell of the bag passed the test of leather, unlike other reviewers, we did not notice a foul or chemical smell. I suspect with the backed up delivery system worldwide, raw products could be riding the ocean in containers for long periods of time. The bag was given as a gift, better than expecting for the reviews, the recipient was a young artist and she loved the 18 inch size for a few of her lightweight sketchbooks and chrome book. Hoping she doesnt overload the bag! The extra compartments were appreciated and the buckles were very functional and easily latch able. There are some handmade traits to the bag possibly assembly line style, a few holes in stitching were missed in places, but doesnt affect the overall star rating. Overall, very pleased with product, customer letter, fast shipping, and packaging.

Will review more in the future but this a fine peice of quality material. Very happy so far.
