> 3 daySo initially I bought the fan for my outside patio and it works great to keep a nice breeze during the very hot Florida summers. But this past Labor Day, I decided to take it along with me on my trip to Cedar Key with the RV, and that was probably the best decision Ive made in sometime. During the long weekend, me and the wife and our Boston Terrier, Winston, enjoyed sitting outside of the RV watching TV and enjoying the cool breeze. Winston may have enjoyed it more than us, he frequently laid directly in front of the fan to cool off. This was a great purchase and has many applications to keep you cool.

> 3 dayIve had this fan for a couple months now and Im very pleased with it. I didnt want to just get a cheap plastic fan (Ive had plenty of those). So I spent a little more money and so far am happy I did. Hopefully this fan will last a few years, making it a solid investment. It is all metal, with metal blades. This fan does have the capacity to be mounted on the wall, but I have not done that so I cant review that aspect of the product. I just have my fan on the floor and thats good enough for me. I have a room in my home that was not getting cool enough this summer. The central A/C vent in that room blows out cool air, but its just not enough to accommodate the size of the room. So I purchased this fan to see if it would help. I placed the fan on the opposite end of the room from where the A/C vent is, so that the fan is blowing toward the A/C vent. It works wonderfully. This is a powerful fan and has tremendous velocity at the lowest setting (it has low-med-high settings). I usually just run it on low and it keeps my room cool. There were a few days when it was hotter and more humid outside, and the room just wasnt getting cool enough for me, so I turned the fan up on high and that did the trick. Because this is a heavy-duty, high-velocity fan, I suppose it is a bit loud even on the lowest setting. But Im one of those people who likes the sound of a fan so its hard for me to comment on this aspect. It is noticeably louder if you increase the setting. I suppose some people might think that the high setting sounds a bit like a jet engine. But again, Im just trying to be as objective as I can since the noise this fan produces doesnt bother me one bit, even on high. For me, the sound of this fan is very relaxing. In its defense, it is a very smooth sound. There is no annoying rattling or vibrating or anything like that - those type of noises DO bother me. This is just a nice, smooth fan sound that happens to be loud because it is pushing the air so forcefully. Some people might find this helpful if they want to block out outside noises, particularly if they work at night and have to try to sleep during the day. If you are one of those people, this is an excellent fan to serve your purpose. There are rubber feet on the bottom which help prevent vibration-type noise, and also helps keep the fan from sliding around - although it is so solid that it probably wouldnt slide anyway, except possibly on the highest setting. This fan is quite a bit heavier than a plastic fan, but I see that as a good thing. Thats what I wanted - a solid, sturdy fan as opposed to a lightweight, flimsy plastic thing. You dont have to worry about accidentally tipping it over. I recommend this this product. It is MUCH more powerful than a cheap, plastic fan. Very solid, all-metal construction. High velocity pushes much more air and does a much better job of cooling a room.

Greater than one weekIt does not have a remote control, and I dont move it around, but I can work for extended time periods and not be annoyed by either the unit sound or any vibration from inbalance. It just does its job. Quietly, relatively speaking.

> 3 dayJust got this fan due to the heat wave in the Pacific NW. I have an older Utilitech FE50 I got from Lowes years ago but needed another one for downstairs, so I directly compared the 2. (Lowes no longer has this model but a newer version that looks a lot like the Lasko in construction.) The Lasko is lighter, at 12 lbs vs 18 for the FE50. Both move a ton of air, the Lasko rated at 3460 and the FE50 at 5000. Both are loud with the Lasko having a higher pitch whine to it while the FE50 has a lower frequency rumble. I measured them with a Radioshack SPL meter at 5 feet with the following results: Lasko Power level 1- 58 db, 2 - 61 db, 3 - 66 db. FE50 Power level 1 - 62 db , 2 - 66 db, 3 - 69 db. Thats about hair dryer or air conditioner level of noise, so if you want quiet, these 20 inch work shop fans are not the way to go. Still, we use the FE50 in the bedroom as my wife prefers the lower frequency hum and we sleep fine. Cant comment on longevity yet since I just got it, but seems reasonably well constructed. Overall I would definitely buy again, but if you are sensitive to noise levels this will probably not work for you.

> 3 dayFor me, this was a toss up between two and three stars. It isnt junk but it definitely isnt great either. The 4 1/2 star ratings are a little confusing to me but I suppose if someone else is used to $25 plastic box fans this fan is built like a tank and blows air like a tornado. Like some others providing reviews on this, Ive been using two old 20 Lakewood fans for many, many years but theyre out of business now. Id have been happier paying twice as much as the Lasko price for a replacement like the Lakewood but just couldnt find one even at triple the Lasko cost. I still have one functional 20 Lakewood so comparisons to the Lasko arent based on memory alone. The Lakewood definitely has a far greater air movement. This new Lasko has essentially the same CFM ratings as the Lakewood but its not even close to the same output; not CLOSE. Id estimate the Lasko is at least 30% weaker than the 20 Lakewood but its definitely not as strong with a much smaller motor and less aggressive fan blade design. Im very skeptical of the CFM rating on the Lasko. The Lasko fan is relatively quiet on high and medium but sometimes has an annoying howl or whine on low. This is a significant noise, not a minor, gotta listen for it kind of noise. It comes and goes but is mostly there on low. The complaint about the howling noise is in some other reviews as well. Blade balance and grille design are very good. No vibration at all in mine. I had to remove the blade guard to repair the swivel tensioner and the grille was easy to remove and replace. The rubber swivel tension brackets are junk. My fan just wouldnt tilt and stay in place. Trying to tighten the lock nuts to fix that caused the thin sheet metal bracket holding the square shank bolt to break....the bracket is REALLY thin and completely inadequate. So, I took the factory, square shank 8mm bolt out and used a regular 5/16 bolt, two washers and a 5/16 nylon insert lock nut (aka nylok) to fix that connection. The remaining factory tension bolt bracket is also cracked out but one decent bolt in the other bracket is enough to make the tilt function okay. Those factory, square shank bolts are also poor quality. The metal is very, very soft. All of this is typical; cheap Chinese fasteners in thin, soft metal brackets. Thats a bad combination. The fix is simple but shouldnt be necessary. The included wall mount bracket for this fan is very good. Its also fairly light weight metal but completely adequate for the job. Its easy to install and very convenient for hanging or removing the fan from the wall. The switch for the fan is well placed and is especially convenient when the fan is wall mounted. With a larger electric motor, more aggressive blades and better swivel mount brackets it would be a five star product. Lasko should make the fan in that configuration and charge twice as much, it would be a better value.

Greater than one weekGreat velocity. I like the sound level because it blocks noise out at night. This is my second one.

> 3 dayPurchased this for a poorly ventilated room in the home I am renting until I can afford a mortgage alongside my student loan debt. I couldn’t be happier with the performance of the fan. The room in question is roughly 85 degrees Fahrenheit and thanks to this fan I barely notice when I’m cranking away on my computer. Many people complain about the noise but I don’t mind it and don’t typically even notice it most of the time. Admittedly that could be down to a lifetime spent with the white noise of a fan in the background. Overall it’s a sturdily built machine, with great air flow and I’m much more confident in this fan versus the plastic Lasko units. I’m of two minds about the lack of a remote control, one one hand it would be a nice convenience. On the other it’s just another failure point and getting up from your seat every now and again is good for you.

> 3 dayThe Lasko floor fan is an impressive piece of machinery, boasting some seriously powerful fan speeds. Even on the lowest setting, this fan is able to circulate air with impressive efficiency, making it a great choice for anyone looking to cool down a room quickly. But where the Lasko really shines is in its higher fan settings. When cranked up to its top speed, this fan can really move some air, creating a refreshing and revitalizing breeze that can help keep you comfortable even on the hottest days. Whether youre looking to cool down a stuffy room or simply need a little extra air circulation, the Lasko floor fan is an excellent choice that wont disappoint.
