Spaulding Grate
> 3 dayIt looks, feels, and works identically to the one I bought 8 years ago. It cost almost the same. Super pleased already. I think people would like this for a shop fan. It *is* noisy. It isnt easy to move. But thats not why you buy this fan. You buy it because it is powerful for its size, affordable, and super functional. The bracket could hang this from the rafters in the garage. We used the last one like a whole house fan. For about half the year, we would run it from 10pm to 6am to pull air through the house by blowing out an upstairs window. After 8 years, that one got bogged down with dust and hair and wouldnt turn over one day. Yknow what? Im happy.

Greater than one weekIn Western Washington, most residential buildings, including my own, do not include air conditioning of any sort. So I needed a fan that could circulate air throughout an entire home. The Lasko 2265QM does that job well for the most part. Positioned properly, it can blow in cool air from shaded areas outside, and provide a pleasant breeze pretty much anywhere. When the temperature gets especially high, sitting in front of the fan provides instant and persistent relief. The three speed settings can be described as high, higher and hurricane. There simply isnt a lot of nuance. Even on the lowest setting, this fan can cycle all the air in a typical bedroom within a minute. Other reviews have commented on the volume of the fan. They are all correct, and you should heed their warnings. I initially shrugged them off, but after getting the fan, I really was surprised by how loud it could be. At full speed, the Lasko 2265QM will sound not unlike a small propeller driven aircraft at idle throttle. The lower settings do little to reduce the noise, and mostly just change the pitch of sound. The overall construction of the fan is decent. Attaching the stand and control box was trivial and didnt require much effort. The front grill can be removed, but there should be no reason to do this. The control box is the only thing that feels like it was cheaply made. But its good enough that it shouldnt be an issue throughout the useful life of the fan. The motor is housed within a plastic shroud, although it appears that under the shroud is a metal casing for the motor itself. I noticed that the plastic motor shroud can get hot during sustained operation. Not to the point where Im concerned it could catch fire. But hot enough for me to be weary of touching it when the fan has been on for awhile. If placed on an uneven surface, the force of the air being blown can cause the fan to topple. It would be nice if the stand had a bit more depth, but this is only problematic if the fan is placed on a soft or uneven surfaces. I get a lot of use out of this fan, but I prefer to only use for about an hour at a time, especially at night when I have the chance to circulate cool air into my room. Anything longer than an hour though, and I prefer to use a quieter fan. Pros: - Can quickly circulate the air in a room - Can provide modest ventilation for a home - Sturdy construction - Easy assembly - Works as advertised Cons: - It really is loud. - Cheap control box - Motor shroud can get hot - Stand my not work well on soft/uneven surfaces - Little difference between speed settings

Greater than one weekYes, its just a tad bit loud but its nothing at all unbearable. Its producing more air flow and because of that, it works absolutely amazing! Our AC went out and I was suffering. I had a plastic fan and the window open and I was still drenched in sweat, mind you Im in Texas. This fan works wonderful and is perfect for a hot day!

> 3 dayI have never paid quite this much for a fan, but I would make this purchase again in a heartbeat. The shape is stable; we had a squarish box fan that got knocked over all the time, made a terrible racket. Theres a carry handle for when you have to move it from one room to another, but its a big fan, meant--as the name indicates--to sit on the floor and pretty much stay there. If you want a little desk thing you can regularly take from room to room, this isnt it. This is the workhorse you want on a miserable hot day with the air conditioning off, or no air conditioning--as is often the case here in Seattle, where few homes have central air and a few more have a window unit that doesnt cool the whole house. Its the sort of fan that kids will fight to be in front of until a parent or grandparent comes in and barks at them to all go siddown. And its the sort of fan that a woman that hates heat like grim death wants when her husband moans that he is cold if she turns the window unit on. For goodness sake, its 85 degrees out there! Its a sauna in here, and we cant use the a/c? The hell you say. No, fine. Its fine. Ill turn on the fan. No, I am NOT turning the fan off at bedtime! People comment on the noise level. Its about the same as having the fan over the stove running. Will it interfere with your TV show? Quite possibly. I dont watch a lot of TV, but if I had to choose comfort or entertainment, I would choose comfort. Turn the TV off and the fan on. You can still have a conversation with others as long as nobody mumbles. There are three fans in this house, not counting the oscillating fan on a skinny, unstable stand that was broken right away by a resident teenager. The other two that remain are a weak little thing that sits tidily on a desk top, and another big floor fan similar to this one but made of white plastic (and apparently no longer being sold.) If I had to pick just one of them to keep, it would be this one. But also, I have reasonably large rooms in my house.. If I were in a very small apartment, I might rethink it. Look at the measurements on the specifications here before you make the purchase if you arent sure a big ol fan like this one can go in the room where you want it.
