This is an excellent learning toy and is very versatile in what can be built. It has several phrases and can identify letters, numbers, and pictures of various blocks. The sound can be adjusted to a high or low setting and it isnt a toy that has become annoying at all. Great for building vocabulary, both literally and figuratively. Also uses problem solving skills and role playing. At the time of this review the retail price was around $25 which is reasonable for the quality.

My 2.5 year old has really gotten into building blocks lately, and I have to say that these are his favorite by far! The fact that they are interactive really sets them apart.

I ordered this Leap Frog LeapBuilders Fixit Truck for my grandsons third birthday. He is able to build Duplo blocks pretty well, so I thought Id try this interactive set. Great fun and fun to learn!! The blocks are notched so little hands can put them together easily. The blocks are either numbered or lettered (such as hat) which helps the little one to recognize words. Many of the blocks speak when they are pushed. When put together, a truck is built and what little guy doesnt love trucks?!! The only problem so far, is that my granddaughter (aged 6) wants a turn with this Fixit Truck, too!! I guess that teaches sharing, as well. I cant comment on the durability of this toy, but Ive given my grandson Leap Frog toys in the past, and theyve held up quite well!! All in all - a great gift!

Memory lane: me and a set of wooden blocks, the best available in 1950. You could make a very tall building out of them, Jenga style, although Jenga hadnt been invented yet. THIS set of blocks is multi-colored and notched, so the pieces all clamp together easily enough for a very young child to manage. Among this set of blocks are some that speak, numbered blocks and blocks with pictures of tools on them. THIS set of blocks fits together to become a truck that goes Wa-HOO! This is like the Duplo vehicle set on steroids. The truck talks to you, although that function can be turned off or turned down, and the pieces can be assembled any which way. It lends itself to creative play in the assembly and imaginative play in the results. Interestingly, I tried it out on five and ten-year-olds. The ten-year-old was zealous in his insistence in assembling the pieces quickly and exactly as shown on the box, and although he insisted that the toy was only good for younger children, I noticed he didnt allow his five-year-old brother any assembly time. The five-year-old wanted to keep it. I got it for a three-year-olds birthday, but I think it could be enjoyed by anyone in the two to five-year-old bracket. This set just barely fits back into its box after play. Using my Montessori training, I put it in a dollar store plastic bin, making it easy to put away but still very accessible.

This kit is designed for children 18 months+, but despite that fact, I have it in my Kindergarten classroom full of English Learners. The kit comes already functioning with batteries, which is always a HUGE win, and has tons of color, number and shape words for children to learn! The students were disappointed when they thought it was a ‘baby’ toy, but as soon as I opened the package and put the pieces in with the other Legos, they were an IMMEDIATE hit! Most of my students come from other countries and this is their first exposure to English, so they had SO MUCH FUN putting the pieces into the talking base and learning what the name of the numbers and colors are on the smaller pieces! My one comment would be that the volume does not turn up very high, which sometimes makes it challenging to hear it.

I like the blocks. The scanner that tells you whats on the block is pretty cool. I dont understand why the number blocks are two sided with different numbers on both sides!! If youre using these to learn numbers, you should have the numbers on one side and something to reinforce the number on the other. (One side should have 10 and the other should have 10 nails. There are 15 double-sided blocks so it would have been so easy to have 1 to 10 on ten blocks instead of five double-sided blocks. It makes it so much harder to use as a toy to help teach numbers. If you ask your child to find the 8, its a lot harder if your kid has to turn blocks around to find the eight. You cant put 1-10 in order. Its just awkward and weird since you have 15 interactive blocks! I want to use this for building, but I want to use it for learning too. It gets so close, but its marred by a glaring defect. Im still giving it three stars because they are nice blocks. I just dont really suggest it, so maybe I should be giving it two stars.

My 2 year old grandson loves this! It’s like a combo of blocks, learning toy, and first transformer. Although confusing at first, he loves that there’s different ways to put this together. And of course every toy now has the obligatory sounds and music. Not that it’s bad; I think kids are getting a head start identifying colors, etc. The pieces are big enough so they’re easier to hold. Adult guidance at first, then let their imagination run wild.

Get the fun rolling with the LeapBuilders 123 Fix-It Truck! Build, create and learn with this interactive 31-piece truck-themed block set. Kids can build using the easy-to-hold building blocks and double-sided learning blocks that feature tools and numbers. Insert the 15 double-sided learning blocks into the interactive Smart Star and it will respond with educational songs and encouraging phrases about numbers and colors that enhance building play with learning content. Build on the Smart Star cube to trigger sounds. Press the question button on the Smart Star to hear requests to find specific blocks in the set. The music button plays three learning songs and three melodies. Use learning blocks from other LeapBuilders sets in the interactive cube to unlock additional content responses. Get building with smart blocks for smart kids. Intended for ages 2+ years. Requires two AAA batteries. Batteries included for demo purposes only, new batteries recommended for regular use.
