> 3 dayHave been a Lego fan since I was a young child (4-5), and at late 30s still enjoy the Thrill of the Build. G-1 Transformers fan as well, so I admit I jumped at the chance to purchase this set. Lego never disappoints with their official sets. Using the Lego elements available to provide such great detail by using them in unique ways shows the cleverness of the designers. I really hope they expand on this line. Optimus needs his team, and a Lego G-1 Soundwave (the stereo boombox) would be epic if the 4 tape cassette Mini-cons were included; or at least Lazer-Beak.

> 3 dayI want to say up front, this was obviously made for the fans. The extras like the energy cube and the swappable belt piece prove that right away. And it actually does transform! Now, the drawbacks. I was missing a piece, but there ended up being a backup piece in a later bag that was close enough for now. Additionally, the joints are not super stable or robust. I blame this on the transforming abilities and the way the midsection especially has to bend and shift between forms, but right where you want to pick him up is exactly where hes weakest. Also, the build instructions were unclear enough that at several points I had to tear down and fix things I thought were correct but later ended up being wrong. It also continues the general flaw of many LEGO sets where it clearly has you building up using many smaller pieces where a single larger or more standard piece would have served better. It feels like an attempt to inflate the piece count for marketing without adding anything to the build itself. But LEGO sets do that all the time, its not unique or even excessive to Optimus here. Overall I love him, but I would definitely put his overall quality below that of the Voltron set.

15-11-2024I’m a transformer fan from way back and have loved Legos since the early 80’s. Put them together and what do you get? Me, very happy! This is a well designed and thoroughly enjoyable lego. I built it with my son and we had a blast. It’s sturdy, heavy and well thought out, all the way to the rubbery footpads to keep his legs from sliding out from under him. If you like transformers or if you like legos, or even better, if you like both, you have to give this a look. It took us about 3 hours to build.

> 3 daythe details are fantastic. transforming is surprisingly simple. size is great in scale. the only complaint is the torso usually separates from legs while transforming but is a good display piece and fun to build

> 3 dayMy fiancé really really wanted this for Christmas so I went ahead and got it for him thinking “Man this is kinda lame” boy was I wrong. It’s definitely one of the cooler Lego sets I’ve seen because you don’t have to take the whole thing apart to access the other build

> 3 dayMy boyfriend is a pretty big Transformers and Lego’s fan, so being able to combine them into one gift… he was ecstatic. Product arrived in perfect condition with All the pieces present. The actual assembly was not too difficult and for a Lego piece it transformed great. Plus the price is hard to beat (all other places were more expensive than on Amazon). Great gift!
