I upgraded from an Acer ED273 which I had since August 2019. I liked that old monitor well enough - except it had a backlight flickering problem I could never fix. After plenty of research I decided this one was the adequate upgraded replacment. I ordered it as used - like new from a seller, and got what Im pretty sure was more or less a brand-new monitor, with a very good panel at that. Even lighting and very little backlight bleed - a HUGE improvement from the Acer one. I would of course expect that at roughly $150-$200 more expensive. The colors are beautiful - though the reds are somewhat oversaturated. This monitor does tend to overblow most colors, but doesnt really bother me much. Its only red that looks nutso to me! The 144hz refresh rate and 4k resolution are a treat to the eyes. It was easy to set up and feels sturdy - though I am using a third party desk mount arm rather than the stock stand. The VESA mount seems strong and I looove the control stick for navigating the settings menu - the old Acer one had an INFURIATING control stick that, on several occasions, left me wanting to bite the monitor clean in half. I cant even describe how beautiful and responsive this one is compared to the garbage crap on the Acer ED273! I will be updating this review as monitor use progresses over the years to keep up with wear-and-tear and overall lifetime of the device. I know, initially, I am STOKED to have this beauty! I can hardly wait to really sit and play games on it - I only tested some 4k gameplay video in the mean time, which looked amazing!

After playing the panel lottery on a few displays I believe Ive found the holy grail. I knew this monitor would handle motion very well from reviews but what I didnt expect is how impressive the colors and image quality would be. My normal Eww reaction to a brand new monitor as I reach for the setting was replaced my a holy $%*# and it only got better once I fired up a game. I had my 14 year old daughter whos obsessed with Overwatch hop on and she had a smile from ear to ear about how smooth the experience was. To be fair I dont notice the difference from 75hz to 144hz as much with the slower paced games I normally play, like I did going from 30hz to 60hz, but the difference is still there. I think that most people could tell the difference though if you switched back and forth. Now this monitor does not really have a 1ms response time, but this marketing strategy of slapping on a bogus response time isnt unique to this monitor. Most TN panels dont really have a true 1ms response time either. The true response time on the fast overdrive setting is 4.08 with 100% of the transitions falling under the 6.94ms window to get a true 144hz. This is excellent. Now I had originally planned on getting the cheaper 27gl83a-b, just thinking that the color gamut was the only difference. After doing some deeper digging I found the the response time on the 27gl83a-b is slightly slower as well. It was worth coughing up an extra $100 for the LG 27GL850 for me. The only thing Im not a huge fan of is the red accents on the stand, as I prefer my setup to be blacked out. To be honest it looks a bit better in person, and if youre sitting on wall youd only see a sliver of red on the top of the V base of the stand. It is also Vesa mountable, so I may do that at some point if my OCD acts up. Now I have used TN, VA and IPS monitors. TN panels are just too washed out and the viewing angles are awful. VA has better viewing angles and contrast, but they still look too washed for me and the ghosting is a sin for gaming. IPS especially now that they have high refresh rate models will be the only technology that I buy and recommend. As for aspect ratios, my last monitor was an ultrawide. Now as much as I love the 21:9 aspect ratio for gaming, I feel as if the gaming industry does not, as its not as widely supported as 16:9. It drove me crazy to buy a new game and have to play with black bars on the sides effectively shrinking my display or an extended FOV where the sides would look stetched or the hud wouldnt support 21:9. The problems go on and on and the support hasnt gotten better imo I couldnt more highly recommend this and after almost 40 years of gaming I put this monitor up there with my favorite, next level upgrades within the likes of my Super Nintendo, PS2 and my first graphics card that pushed me to 60fps.

Colors are MORE vibrant and immersive than 1080p without a doubt, 144hz, few other modes built in. The only thing i will say is the brightness isnt as bright as i would like it to be to be honest (tbh). If you have a dark room or like to use your PC at night then the brightness is plenty. At night ill leave the brightness at like 45-65 cause it gets up there lol

I know there is OLED and HDMI 2.1 Monitors in the market, but theyre are either too expensive or the compatible graphic card isnt available for MSRP thanks to scalpers; so this LG UltraGear is the perfect entry point for 4K gaming, video editing, and just miscellaneous entertainment. Every monitor should strive to have basic features like this UltraGear does such as G-Sync, HDR, USB Hub, High Refresh Rates, Height Adjustment for IDEAL NECK POSTURE, and rotation. My only gripe with the LG UltraGear and just about every gaming monitor on the market is that they dont just have Bluetooth built-in which seems like a basic feature for Work monitors and high-end TVs, but not the other way around. Even my $100 Living Room TV got Bluetooth. Anyway besides my justified complaint, I highly recommend this monitor if you got the PC Specs or consoles for 4K Gaming.

I have only really one complaint, and I just solved it with an arm, but the stand on this monitor annoys the living heck out of me. The gamingness of the stand having long spikey legs that really just interfere with absolutely anything I might have on my desk was plain awful. Everything else though has been wonderful though. The controls are easy to use, the picture looks good, having a higher refresh rate is just nice, etc etc. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonable display, but with the caveat that you either have a big empty desk or get an arm because the stand included just rubs me the wrong way.

This is for the LG 27GL850-B Nano monitor. I wish I had bought an IPS panel sooner. Everything is so much more vivid and clear, and the monitor has very little light bleed (I have a small bleed in my top left corner I almost never notice). Mine came with no dead pixels, which finally broke my unlucky streak of first-new-monitor-always-has-dead-pixels. The joystick menu is the best monitor menu Ive ever used, its fast and responsive, and is easy to switch inputs or turn settings on and off. This monitor doesnt have hardware G-Sync, but the G-Sync compatibility does make a difference, especially if a game you play is prone to screen tearing or sudden frame drops. Being able to drop frames but still have pretty smooth gameplay feels much better. This monitor also doesnt really have the hardware for true HDR, but whenever something allows me to turn on HDR, everything still looks more vivid. Not quite what a real HDR monitor will hand you, but for 1440p 144hz and (almost) G-Sync? Im willing to put up with it for the price. Doom Eternal on this monitor utterly blew my mind. Im very happy, and might buy a second one soon. My current second money looks so gross next to this one.

I am coming from another LG monitor (UM67 29UM67) and the (27GL850-B 27) is a nice upgrade/downgrade compromise. I loved the ultrawide feature of my former monitor, but I really wanted to get a 144Hz refresh. Cost, size, resolution and 144Hz urged me to purchase the 27GL850-B 27. Other than loosing the ultrawide this monitor has better contrast, brightness, color and the 144Hz in Counter-Strike Source is very nice. Ultimatly I think this monitor should sell for $350.00 and not $499.00, but I really have no regrets. If you have an average monitor you will notice the quaility of the screen. If you have not experienced 144Hz in a fast paced shooter...you are missing something. I would not go for a 32 or 34 2K monitor over converns of the dpi resolution. This monitor is a very good compromise. Update - I dropped a star because Counter-Strike Source models get a weird ghosting effect. It is noticable and slightly distracting. So far I am not seeing the same issue in Battlefield 4. I will fiddle with settings and contact support and provide an update. Final Update - This monitor is far from perfect and I am not able to get rid of the weird ghosting effect. In addition I just noticied a stuck red pixel...sigh. At this price point a dead or stuck pixels should not be an issue. LG needs to step up the quality control.

This is a review after 1 year of usage. Provided cable is still functional although when i first plugged it i was worried it would break at some point so be gentle with it. The monitor is 1440p 144hz so if you are buying this make sure you have a capable graphics card able to drive it. I personally have an RTX 3070 while it runs fine this card has 8GB of VRAM and it is starting to be affected negatively in some games. VRAM usage is quite high and I would say you need more than 8GB VRAM if you plan on playing latest triple A games and potentially more games in the future. Older games will function fine with this little VRAM. Nano IPS is a great panel from LG. The monitor does get a little warmer when gaming at higher refresh rate but doesnt seem to be negatively affected by it. Brightness is great and the included stand mount. Coming from cheaper monitors I never thought having such flexibility with a decent mount would be that nice. Out of the box the Windows UI display on this monitor is rather small personally it was too small for my liking so i increased the scale to 150% it enlarged everything on the screen. I did have trouble with doing this early stages of windows 11 and to be specific GTA V wasnt handling the the scaling that well but now its completely fixed. If you run into issues with specific case scenario you can easily revert back to the default scaling which is 100% Nothing wrong with it overall but if you are buying for an HDR experience turn away from this model. The implementation of this model is better never touched.

This is the best gaming monitor that Ive ever had so far. I mainly play FPS games like Valorant and CS:GO which requires extreme reaction speed and reflex, which this monitor allows me to have. The high refresh rate allows me to track the enemy much easier and smoother. I highly recommend it for competitive tactical FPS players.
