Lord of War

I like Nick Cage as an actor, and I usually like his movies; this one is no exception. Keeping in mind it is entertainment, not a documentary or a how to be a gun runner instructional video, it is well paced, and sufficiently well thought out to keep your interest, with very few slow points. Not something to watch everyday, but well worth putting in the DVD library for sometime down the road.

i watched this movie to kill time, thinking it was a shoot em up hollywood flick. instead, this is an original idea, disturbing, satirical, and very well done plot that sticks to you the day after you see it. the trophy wife who happily mooches off her millionaire husband, and then pulls the morality gig is a classic. where were her questions about her husbands (nicholas cage) line of work during the years when she spent his money? the lame good for nothing brother who is hooked on cocaine, only to clean up, find a girlfriend, and get ready to buy a business...but, where to get the money? oh yes, a little bit of gunrunning, as long as it is ethical, clean, and moral should do it, until he sees people hacked to death and ready to be slaughtered. then, the morality comes on, and manifests itself in a classic ill just blow it all up outburst. this one is a must see for all those folks jaded by the recent usual hollywood fare.

One of his 5 best! And I have seen at least 15 of Nicholas Cages films through the years! Kudos to the son of Francis Ford Coppola -- his inherited talent shows by the hard work Nicholas Cage has put in to further his developed skills, intelligence, dedication, and interest in becoming a FINE actor -- one of the best of Hollywood!

I watched this movie as a kid and hated it for how depressing it got towards the middle but watched it again after 20 yrs and loved it.

Interesting, entertaining, and thoughtful story about arms running. This is not a typical shoot-em up action movie. The film contains some humorous moments within a story that is disturbing and serious. A must see for any Nicholas Cage fans. The character of Yuri Orlov was made for him. The supporting cast is also excellent.

Eye-opening and realistic depiction of the real-life international gun runner. Yuri Olov sold weapons to anyone and everyone in the world for a price. He even sold weapons to both sides of a conflict. Those of us in the US who want to ban guns need to see this. No matter how illegal a gun trade is you simply cannot prevent a gun being sold to someone who believes in a cause. Even if that cause is simply freedom. Because there will always be someone willing to sell them.
