I was looking for a new speaker to replace a chargeable one that I had purchased roughly 10 years ago. I found this Marshall speaker and its appealing design caught my attention immediately! The speaker came very well packaged and it was very easy to pair with my cell phone using the provided app. The sound is great and with Volume 7 it was loud enough and very clear as well - I even went upstairs and could listen to it perfectly. The design of the speaker resembles a Marshal amp, so it took me back to memory lane when I hanged out with my rocker friends. I really liked the black and golden design/detail of the knobs and the power switch. I placed it on one of my night tables and it matched perfectly! Given its weight, I contemplate it can stay on such a table without any issues. It has been a couple of days since I received the speaker at home and friends that have stopped by have given compliments about the speaker! I definitely recommend this product.

This is a truly impressive little bluetooth home speaker. It is not really portable (you can move it around easily but...), as it requires and 110vAC connection to operate. The speaker is quite dense and well made. I assume the faux leather covering is some sort of PU leather, but it is quite soft to the touch. It doesnt feel plasticy at all. There is one spot on the bottom where you can the seam where the leather meets, but its not really noticeable. The power switch is a very solid and old school feeling toggle. The volume and equalizer knobs are reminiscent of music amps and operate smoothly with modern touch of LED indicators instead increment lines and a pointer. Bluetooth pairing is simple and when you connect to the speaker, it prompts you to download the Marshall app from your respective app store. The app makes pairing easy...but seems to be a bit unnecessary, as the only real use for it is to make custom EQ profiles. Overall, I couldnt be happier with the sound quality. It has a tremendous amount of bass, but isnt muddy or rattling. The sound does fill the room, which is surprising for such a small speaker. Voices are clear, good mid tones, and the highs (at least as high as these old ears can hear) are very clean. Im not an audiophile, but I can appreciate good sound. I recently got a set of IEMs and use those as my reference for high quality sound. I have to say this speaker holds its own. Its got a classic subdued look. You can hide it in the corner of the room or display as a prominent center piece in music themed house. Either way, the sound wont disappoint.

Easy to pair, very simple operation, and shockingly good sound from such a small package. As an owner of a Marshall amp, the Action III has the same aesthetics with the gold face and knobs, the vintage grille cloth, and the thick heavy cabinet. It even has a little something that their amps dont. Instead of a line on the bass, treble, and volume knobs that displays the level, the Action III has LEDs around the knobs which light up as you move clockwise. Its smaller than a shoebox and my fingertips reach around the top, but its difficult to pick up one handed due to its weight. Youre not going to accidentally knock it off of your table or counter without some effort. This speaker is not rechargeable. It’s powered by an AC cord. This may be a disadvantage to some because you won’t be taking it on a picnic unless an outlet is nearby. Your device will recognize the available connection as Action III. If you know the functions of bass, treble, and volume, youve got it mastered. It doesnt get any easier. Being an AC powered unit, it does appear to play considerably louder than a rechargeable speaker. It has excellent bass and crystal clear highs coming from twin tweeters. The midrange seems to be just a bit subdued. Thats personally just how I like it, but an extra tone or contour control like the ones you find on Marshall amps would be a plus for some listeners. I’ve yet to experience any issues with static and I rate it five stars based on its tone and cool looks.

Static sound both with blue tooth and direct connect. Marshall trouble shooting suggest move closer to turntable (defies purpose for bluetooth to put speaker where I like) also suggested turning the volume down! Led Zep on low volume... not for me.

Seriously, its rare to find a product at any price point these days that looks so good and is so solidly constructed. In fact, if I saw this little but fierce Bluetooth speaker at a friends house and they asked me to guess its price, Id put it in the five to six hundred dollar range. From the solid, substantive knobs and switches atop the unit to the superlative vintage grille cloth and perfectly executed Marshall brand name, the Acton III simply reeks of quality. Once you download the Marshall Bluetooth app to your smartphone or tablet, pairing it to your device is easy-peasy. The app also gives you control of the tone and placement compensation via your phone, so if you choose to put the speaker across the room in your home or office, youre still in control. It also has a 1/8 RCA auxiliary input should the need arise. Now, the million dollar question: How does it sound? If youre looking for transparent, flat, nearfield monitor sound, you wont find it here--and that is *not* a bad thing. Sound-wise, this speaker is as retro as its cabinet: Rich, warm, and distinctly analog. With punchy bass and crystal-clear highs, it adds flavor and color without sacrificing fidelity. Id say it has the sound of a high-quality floor or console from the golden age of radio. Consequently, if your source material was mastered for AM radio (pretty much everything before 1980), itll sound great on the Acton III. Now this does *not* mean anything post 1980 will sound horrible, because it wont. In fact, itll probably sound better than the Bluetooth speakers youre using now, and it will sound orders-of-magnitude better than even the best ear buds. Likewise, any vocal podcast is bound to sound great on this pup. Downsides? I dont see it as a negative but do be aware the Acton III requires AC power (no USB or batteries). So, while it is small enough to be portable, it is really best suited for a permanent home. In sum, Im blown away by the Acton III, and Im sure you will be, too.
