MFJ-270 Lightning Arrester DC-1GHz, UHF-F/F 400W by MFJ

I sure hope I never have to test this, meaning, I hope my antenna never gets hit by lightning. However, Im happy that I included it on my antenna setup, just the same. Ive had it inline to my antenna for a while now. It hasnt negatively affected performance of the antenna that Ive been able to detect. It didnt change the impedance or SWR either.

I hope the MFJ-270 never gets to be tested. I am placing two of these for each antenna. One at the base of the antenna and another at the back of the house. Hope to cut down on EFI along the coax. Trying to cut down on noise returning to the Ham Shack.

Price and available

I cannot attest to the ability of this product to protect against all surges, however, we have had some pretty severe storms and the radio is still operational. Also important is that Ive experienced no noticable insertion loss which was a concern. Ill definitely add more when additional antennas go up. The little bit of added peace of mind goes a long way.

This product is designed to bleed off static charges. As the packaging states, this product will not protect your equipment against a direct lightning strike. Be sure to follow electrical codes and safety measures.

I liked it for the size.

This is good for a little insurance incase a lightning bolt gets a little to close.
