I am used to pure and 2% thoriated tungsten. This tungsten is just as good as thoriated on stainless and mild steels and doesnt degrade as quickly as pure on AC

The Tungsten electrodes from Midwest have been great every time I’ve used them. I’m not a great TIG welder, and I needed .04 to butt weld a 45 degree angle in 1/16 wall round stainless tube, and it kept blowing holes in the apex of the join with the 1/16 electrodes and filler, so I decided to try .04. They are not so easy to find, but Midwest stocked them, and they arrived next day. Being so fine, they ball up pretty quickly, but I was much happier with the results. Filler was the other challenge, and grabbing a spool of .04 SS MIG wire was the most practical solution there.
