I really like the quality of the paints. I dont find they dry out insanely quickly but you have to respect that youre opening all the colors all the time. Make sure you secure the lid properly each time. I tend to use them more like acrylics that can be diluted easier than actual acrylics and Ive found that to be useful. Now for the bad and it is pretty bad....To really get a functional set you have to individual peel open 50 tiny plastic cups of paint! This took FOREVER!! I understand why because it ensures that you get an intact product thats not dried out but soooo many cups. SO MANY. The first night I got this I was done with the paints before I even got to paint because of the little cups. They are also not easy to open. So if youre someone who has trouble with peel open cups of sauce at fast food places this is not for you.

I primarily paint with oil and watercolor — I’ve never bothered with gouache. But the algorithm that steers our purchasing habits brought me to this set and I was curious. I bought this set for fun. And it’s a fun set. Some of the colors are really vibrant and strange, and the texture is pleasing. A little paint goes a long way - the color saturates paper cleanly and evenly. The only thing to complain about here is the case — it’s basically a large tupperware case with foam rubber inside the lid. Because of the size and weight of this set, you will invariably get globs of paint on the foam. Sure, the foam can be cleaned but you’re continuously wasting paint. This is in addition to whatever paint was wasted by being left behind from peeling the foil covering on each individual tub. It’s not ideal storage, but I’m willing to wager it was the most economical. All in all I’m very pleased with this purchase. It loses a star for the wonky carrying case but the paints are pretty delightful.

I already knew I would like the quality of the paint since I had purchased the smaller 18 color Miya gouache last year. I love the large selection of colors and the thickness and quality of the paint. It’s rich, smooth, creamy and intensely pigmented. The colors are easy to re-wet, blend, thin out and mix. It’s great value for all the colors you get. I’m so happy with this set. If you’re on the fence, I would recommend getting this set, or one of the smaller sets. The Miya/Himi brand is such great quality.

I love the fact you get every color for a cheap price, plus the paint is actually good quality. I have been using mine everyday and for two months now it hasn’t dried out at all
