> 3 dayI really liked this book. Im familiar with this story from having read the scriptures. I still found myself getting sucked in and wanting to keep reading. I enjoyed learning about their culture at that time. It really brings The Book of Mormon to life. *I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

> 3 dayLoved her insights and character developments. Very well done, made me want to read Moores other books. I found myself wanting to know more and more about these valiant men and women who served so long ago.

> 3 dayI love this story. It is fun to imagine how one of my favorite Book of Mormon heroes may have found love and adventure. It was sometimes intense and heartbreaking but also a beautiful story about overcoming adversity.

> 3 dayI loved this book! H B Moore did a great job of sticking to the original scripture story, while bringing the story to life. She helped me understand what it would be like to live in the days of Abinadi and Alma. While we dont really know Abinadis age or family situation, this gave me a fresh perspective and made learning about it fun. The information about the time period is well researched and sited. The characters are engrossing and I love them!

> 3 dayThis book is great! If you dont know the story of Abinadi then I dont want to give anything away, but it is a tear jerker, even when you know the outcome. Heather certainly does a lot of research! I have and will recommend not just this book, but the others in this collection to anyone who asks about them.

> 3 dayThis was a perfect Book of Mormon fiction book! I loved Heather Moores take on Abinadi as a young man. It tugged at my heart that he left a 1 year old son behind. I also loved the relationships between all the characters, especially Amulon as Abinadis father-in-law. It just made it all the more personal. I cant wait to read the next two books in the series!

> 3 dayReading this book deepened my understanding, respect, and love for Abinadi, the Book of Mormon prophet. H.B. Moore has done an incredible thing in this fictionalized account of a true prophet who lived thousands of years ago--she brings him to life in a way that Id never considered before. His sacrifice was acute and terrible and he did it because he wanted people to know about the Savior, Jesus Christ. Now, dont think that this is a preachy book. It is not at all that. In fact, people who know nothing of the Book of Mormon will love this book because Moore has written it in a way that transports you back in time to a people who lived like the ancient Mayans. She portrays the hardships, way of life, and challenges to seek and study religion and live beyond the servitude that so many people had to endure during the reigns of kings. I have read the entire series of Moores books that develop from prophets and religious leaders in The Book of Mormon and The Holy Bible. Each is excellent in its own right and your time will be well spent in reading these novels.

> 3 dayBought and read this when it first came out in 2008. I remember liking it but nothing more. Thanks to Presidents Nelsons recent (2018) BofM reading challenge, upon finishing my own marathon reading, I had this uncanny urge to re-read all four of this authors Out of Jerusalem volumes. Since this was next in her list of published works, what else could I do but keep going? All I could remember about this story was that Abinadi was not some old geriatric. More like a young Chris Evans Captain America quoting Isaiah and...that was it. He mightve had a girlfriend too. Yeah, there was A LOT of story Id completely forgotten about. So, young Chris Evans Abinadi has been carrying a torch for the lovely, single and wealthy Raquel for some time now. Raquel also just happens to be the daughter of Amulon. Yes, THAT Amulon who would later betray fellow priest Alma and have an entire rebellious, wicked, group of people named after him. Abinadi and Raquel have a couple of meet/cutes before Raquel manages to escape becoming part of King Noahs harem to join Abinadis secret society in the wilderness jungle. Meanwhile, Alma is a reluctant member of King Noahs court. Yes, Alma is in this story too. He has his eye on one of the forbidden women in the court. Forbidden because she is King Noahs newest addition to his concubine. Will Abinadi find love before his inevitable death by fire? Can Alma escape this den of iniquity before it brainwashes him? Read the book and find out.
