Reading this book deepened my understanding, respect, and love for Abinadi, the Book of Mormon prophet. H.B. Moore has done an incredible thing in this fictionalized account of a true prophet who lived thousands of years ago--she brings him to life in a way that Id never considered before. His sacrifice was acute and terrible and he did it because he wanted people to know about the Savior, Jesus Christ. Now, dont think that this is a preachy book. It is not at all that. In fact, people who know nothing of the Book of Mormon will love this book because Moore has written it in a way that transports you back in time to a people who lived like the ancient Mayans. She portrays the hardships, way of life, and challenges to seek and study religion and live beyond the servitude that so many people had to endure during the reigns of kings. I have read the entire series of Moores books that develop from prophets and religious leaders in The Book of Mormon and The Holy Bible. Each is excellent in its own right and your time will be well spent in reading these novels.

Didnt like it as much as the Out of Jerusalem series, probably because there is so much less to go on in the story of Abinadi than in 1st and 2nd Nephi. Once again loved how she brought her research into the story and brought a Mesoamerican setting to the Book of Mormon alive.

The actual book is outstanding !! But the book itself looks like it was used before. I received the book with dog-eared pages and stain on it. Not too happy with that.

This book brings to light The Book of Mormon. She puts the scripture reference in story form. It is very interesting to think of life during that period of time.

This is an excellent book. I couldnt put it down. I read it when it first came out but am just getting around to writing a review. The other books that follow this are equally good or better.

I loved this book! H B Moore did a great job of sticking to the original scripture story, while bringing the story to life. She helped me understand what it would be like to live in the days of Abinadi and Alma. While we dont really know Abinadis age or family situation, this gave me a fresh perspective and made learning about it fun. The information about the time period is well researched and sited. The characters are engrossing and I love them!

I loved this book. We know so little about Abinadi and really liked how HB Moore portrayed him. I cant wait to read Almas story.
