I had the optoma hd20. This version is just so much better. True you can see the image even if there is light in the room. Very usable during the day. You do not need blackout blinds at all. I tried the hdrz 39 version, which uses a lazer. But this bulb based version produces a better image to me when using the same contrast and brightness levels. So i am happy with my purchase indeed. I wish the zoom were stronger because my room is quite large and rather have the projector at the edge of the ceiling. It would look better. Speakers are not good but i used a sound bar. Noize level and heat are much better compared to what i had. Not really noticeable when mounted on the ceiling.

I returned the item well within the return time window and it took much longer than usual for the return process.(Buyers beware! They charged quite a bit on the return.)The projector is decent but didnt work with my pioneer reciever. It is seriously picky on compatibility with hdmi cables.

First it does not come with instructions, then u go to their site that has them but they want to know the model number and that totally makes since but there is no model number anywhere on the projector

Worked great for about 500 lamp hours/ 6 months, until the lamp broke. Its out of the return period, bulb warranty, and Optoma finds any reason not to honor their 1 year warranty. Its supposed to last about 3000 lamp hours, incase youre wondering.

Loved the projector when I first got it, very bright and clear. After only 5 months the projector stopped working. It will turn on and work for about 5 minutes and then shut off completely. Reached out to customer service and they told me to follow the warranty process where you send the product back to them and have to cover the shipping costs with no ETA on when theyll send it back. VERY disappointed.
