24-11-2024Picture is nothing short of astounding. I have the projector mounted in a bright living room and can easily watch during the day with the curtains drawn. I would love to give this five stars..but I cant because every once in a while, it does some kind of thing where the power indicator flashes purple and the power button on the remote is ineffective. Never had this issue with my old HD 27. Anyhow, at these times, I have to climb up on the couch, pull out the power plug and plug it back in in order for it to work. This sucks even more because it often moves the mount so I have to refit the picture to my screen. Wish I knew a fix; but for now, Ill just expect to have to go through this nonsense once or twice a week. Otherwise, its an awesome projector!

Greater than one weekI bought this to replace a four-year-old Optima HD143X 1080p 3000. This has a much better-quality picture than the older one. 4000 lumens versus 3000 lumens, plus this is 4K which the other was not. The other was half the price so I have no complaint on that. This gives a sharper, brighter image. Much better color. This will show a good picture even when there is light in the room. You do not have to be blacked out. I can watch this comfortably even with the overhead lights on. My only problem with optima is that their remotes are not the easiest to navigate. After a few months of using this with no problem, I started having an issue each and every time I turn it on, the picture starts up distorted. All I have to do to correct this is press the HDMI selector button. A minor inconvenience. So far, the picture is incredible. I am happy with this optima. It is well worth the difference in price from the old one. Update: Problem solved. I needed to plug the usb to an electric outlet

25-11-2024Ive been going through The Witcher 3 on an admittedly kind of dinky home projector (Vankyos Cinemango, very good considering its very very low price) and, oh my god, what have I been missing. The picture quality is incredible. As long as youre using it in a fairly small place, this is about 10 times what I paid for the last projector and (subjectively) about 20 times better of an experience.

> 3 dayThis is a great projector, especially if you are using it for gaming. I was so impressed with it, I ditched the TV entirely. Its super bright. Great response times. Enough features. I have Fire Stick, Chromecast, PS4, and a direct connect HDMI all connected. But... It has handshake issues. This isnt the end of the world, but it does make it annoying enough that I reached to Optoma customer service to see if they had any resolutions. I ran across mentions of the issue in multiple reviews, including Projector Central. The main issue Im having is with a direct connection to my MacBook, Thunderboldt to HDMI. It basically wont hold the picture, constantly flickering. Ive tried multiple cables and converters, nothing works. Other reviews mention issues with the PS4 (Ive had none) or other devices. Ive had minor issues with the Chromecast, but not as much as the direct connection. I believe this is a firmware issue, not a hardware issue. Customer support basically brushed me off even after I sent them links to all the other references of the handshake issue. They suggested I send it in, since its still under warranty. I havent made up my mind on what Ill do with the unit yet. I dont want to send it back in, since theyll probably send me a refurb. I just wish Optoma would recognize there is an issue and look into it. They say they have no reported handshake issues. Well, Im reporting it. That said, this is a great projector for the money. I looked long and hard before upgrading. I settled on this one mainly because of the brightness and gaming aspects.
