> 24 hourThis blanket is a great solution for an apartment or a house, to smother a small fire. It would definitely fit over your stove or any other small area (so its a good idea to keep one in the kitchen); its definitely less messy than the fire extinguisher; its also perfect for camping trips and barbecues. The only thing is, its covered with fiberglass so youd have to put on gloves to handle it without getting those tiny glass shards into your skin. It says you can wrap it around yourself to escape from a burning building but Im not sure what fiberglass will do to your skin in this case and also, its not really big enough to cover yourself fully. But yeah, if you only want to use it for your kitchen or while on a camping trip, itll do the job just fine.

> 24 hourAs a 32 year fireman don’t store it over or around the stove. And always have the lid to the pot handy. If it’s early in the fire place the lid on and shut off the burner then get the blanket. Then check the cabinet above the stove for extention

> 24 hourHad a small flare up a month ago in a pan on the stove top. It went out quickly on its own, however it got me to thinking about what if it had not. Started looking at these blankets and decided on this one because of the silicone coating over the fiberglass. Seems well made. Hope not to ever need it, but glad to have it.

> 24 hourI recently moved into a new house and realized I needed some sort of fire suppression device (fire extinguisher or fire blanket) since, unsurprisingly, the previous owners didnt leave one. I had the opportunity to try this product and it has already given me such a piece of mind! The product arrived in simple packaging consisting of a clear plastic envelope/enclosure. The instructions for use are right on the outside of the fire blanket cover, so I read through those to familiarize myself with what Id need to do if, god forbid, something in my house caught on fire. Essentially you just pull the straps to get the blanket out from its cover, then throw the blanket over the fire (or wrap up the on-fire person in the blanket) to put the fire out. Because it clearly stated it was made of glass fibers, and as other reviewers have pointed out, unfolding it can cause some splinters, I did not open the blanket. The directions are so straightforward I did not feel it necessary to undo the blanket when I did not need to use it. The blanket seems to conform to modern fire safety standards so that is enough to satisfy me. Overall, this is a great product for roughly $13, and Id recommend it to anyone needing some sort of fire suppression product for their home!
