> 3 dayI recently moved into a new house and realized I needed some sort of fire suppression device (fire extinguisher or fire blanket) since, unsurprisingly, the previous owners didnt leave one. I had the opportunity to try this product and it has already given me such a piece of mind! The product arrived in simple packaging consisting of a clear plastic envelope/enclosure. The instructions for use are right on the outside of the fire blanket cover, so I read through those to familiarize myself with what Id need to do if, god forbid, something in my house caught on fire. Essentially you just pull the straps to get the blanket out from its cover, then throw the blanket over the fire (or wrap up the on-fire person in the blanket) to put the fire out. Because it clearly stated it was made of glass fibers, and as other reviewers have pointed out, unfolding it can cause some splinters, I did not open the blanket. The directions are so straightforward I did not feel it necessary to undo the blanket when I did not need to use it. The blanket seems to conform to modern fire safety standards so that is enough to satisfy me. Overall, this is a great product for roughly $13, and Id recommend it to anyone needing some sort of fire suppression product for their home!

> 3 dayI have not had to use this yet but covering a fire is so much better than spraying it and making a mess. Worth it for the piece of mind alone.

> 3 dayCant say if it works or not until I actually need it. It is definitely a fiberglass blanket and has a nice size and weight to it. Larger than I expected. I like that the tabs can be left out of the velcro, to be pulled down easily when needed in an emergency. Everyone is getting these for stocking stuffers this year. Great housewarming gift as well. Safety is a necessity they dont always want to spend money on. I will be purchasing more.

> 3 dayPROS: - Its less of a mess to clean up than a chemical extinguisher. CONS: - There should be a warning on the outside of the case regarding the glass splinters. I had opened the case, pulled-out the blanket, and unfolded it (for review purposes), then folded it back up and put it away. Immediately thereafter I started to notice tingling on and around my hands. Upon close inspection of the skin of my hands, I noticed small, very thin slivers of glass fibers all over my hands. I quickly ran to the sink, lathered-up and washed my hands twice for almost a minute. The sensation was less painful but I could still feel the minuscule needles poking at me. What else could I do? I had no choice but to deal with it and went to sleep. Thank goodness I didnt feel anything else on my hands the next morning. Needless to say-- I will NEVER open that blanket again except for an emergency, and even then Ill use a chemical fire extinguisher first, which I just ordered today.

> 3 dayI hope I never have to use this product, but the package makes it easy to open in an emergency, and the instructions are clear and simple.
