Game is fantastic, my 10 year old has been playing all day. Pros: pre-ordered last night (11/14) when we realized our GameStop pre-order wouldn’t arrive until next Wednesday. The Amazon pre-order was on sale for $99 (plus $4 for one day delivery) and included a special promo for the trainer’s backpack. UPS delivered it to our house at 3 PM, so shipping was very fast. Cons: promo code for backpack was emailed from Amazon early this morning, and didn’t work. I followed the email directions to enter the code into Nintendo eShop. I didn’t deduct a star for this, since it’s a retailer issue, and the game is definitely a 5 star game.

Let me first start with what I think of the game. Its great. Super fun, innovative new features and all that. I have no complaints there. My issue is amazon screwing up the pre-order promotion code for the gold studded case. 1st, I never received the email with the code. 2nd, I receive an email about there being an error in the code instruction I previously received (I never received it!!!). 3rd and most annoyingly, when I contacted amazon they told me that the code is issued by Nintendo and that I should talk to them. So a pre-order exclusive code from amazon will be coming from Nintendo? Give me a flipping break. So I called Nintendo as it seemed my only option now that amazon has written me off. I speak to a Nintendo customer service rep and she tells me, Oh I have been getting a lot of calls about this issue. No, Nintendo does not provide the amazon EXCLUSIVE code. I felt like an idiot for even calling. Im going to GameStop for my games from now on....unless amazon can fix this. Update: After multiple calls to both Amazon and Nintendo I finally got the codes. One from Amazon and one from Nintendo. Thanks for the fix but it was not easy to do.

Product is great, but like others here, the promo code for the in-game item does not work.

I really do enjoy Pokemon Sword and Shield; however, feel like the game was not as thought out as it could have been. For starters, Sword and Shield are the same exact game; the only difference is that there are two different gyms in Shield than there are in Sword, and a few other different Pokemon to catch. Other than that; theyre identical, down to the story line. Additionally, I was really hoping that, when you play one and then move to the other, it would pick up your profile from the other one, meaning that you didnt have to replay the exact same story over again, and that youd have all your Pokemon youd already caught, ready to continue adding an entirely new set of Pokemon to your Pokedex. However, again, its the exact same game, and it forces you to start all over again, from ground zero, with no Pokemon, going through the same story, catching the same Pokemon. Also, the online functionality of the game is very bugged. When setting up trades and such, its supposed to connect you to the internet, but sometimes it doesnt, so youre just roaming around waiting for a trade to happen that never will, because it isnt actually connected. If you pay attention to the fact that there arent any other players appearing in the game, or that the online icon hasnt turned blue, then its obvious, but if youre in your own little world, doing your own thing, you might not notice this. There are also lots of communication errors trying to complete trades online. When trying to join an online raid battle, or broadcasting your own raid battle for others to join, it never finds a match either way, yet you see others out in the field looking for people to join, constantly. Finally, I feel like, for such a large game, and such a wealthy company, they could have spent a little more time to add a few more character models to the game; seriously, youll run into 20 different NPCs that all look exactly the same. I guess I was just expecting more from Pokemons first real set of 3D rendered games.
