This backpack looks and feels great. Real, thick leather, which gives it somewhat rustic appearance. It almost feels cozy, if a backpack can be cozy. So far, all bells and whistles (i.e. pockets and straps) hold well (I cannot comment on long-term usability). There are plenty good reviews that do justice to this backpack, so Ill only mention three minor issues with it. On the outside, pocket flaps are held with straps fed through the metal loops. Underneath these straps there are small Velcro patches, that seem to be too weak to give confidence in function. This may not a big deal, since straps themselves are rather stiff. This stiffness causes bigger issues with side pockets, which are closed with magnetic closures - they just keep popping open. Maybe this will fix itself after months of use. Another gripe is with the main compartment zipper on top. Metal zipper is not as smooth as comparable plastic zippers. When combined with thick leather flap, it makes unzipping more difficult than it could be, especially around the corners. The result is that I typically do not open zipper all the way and almost feels like Im ready to scratch myself every time I reach inside. Lastly, the organization of the inside is not as good as the outside feel and look. There are some pockets, but they are sewn thin fabric. There is essentially no padding between compartments. I cant find a good way to securely store glasses, for example. That said, I like it overall

This’s a great urban back pack, not one that I would take for hiking.

Can I please just walk into the building where I work without someone stopping me to compliment me/comment on this bag? Im writing this review after having this backpack for approximately 1 week. Here are my thoughts: -First off, for frame of reference, Im 510 215 lbs. You can see how the bag fits my frame in the attached photos. -The dark brown color is amazing and in my opinion is the color to go with. -The leather is stiff and heavy duty and will take some time to break in. -The straps are long enough to let the bag hang low (it looks great this way) or you can wear it high on the back. -The pockets on the front provide wonderful function AND outstanding visual appeal. (yes they have Velcro underneath to secure them and no, the leather straps do not slide out of their metal holders) -The inside has plenty of pockets too (Zippered Pocket, Laptop Pocket, Tablet Pocket, Business Card Pocket, Receipt Pockets, Pen & Pencil Loops, etc.) -The side pockets are perfect for a 24 oz. Hydroflask Water Bottle on one side (see photos) and a medium-sized umbrella on the other (again, see photos) -There is plenty of space inside for magazines, my eyeglass case, a rain coat, AND a light-weight Packable Down Jacket -I was caught in the rain one day and the water did not stain the leather. (I wiped my pack off once I got in the car and it was fine) Now for the compliments... -The very first day I wore it to work...a guy stopped me as I was heading in the front door of my office building and said, Thats a great back pack. - The second day I wore it...just before leaving work, I went to the restroom. I had my back pack on while standing at the urinal and a guy comes in and says, Thats an amazing backpack! It looks like something youd wear to go climbing or something. -The third day I wore it, I was standing in the elevator with 2 guys and 3 women. One of the women said, I need to get my husband one of those...its so cool. -I could go on and on about the comments Ive received. Just know this, YOU WILL GET COMMENTS! So get used to it. In summary, I looked at all sorts of backpacks prior to choosing to go with this one. If you want a traditional black backpack like every other person in the world has, then by all means go get one of those. However if youre looking for a special piece of leather kit that will turn heads, make you feel great while wearing it AND get better with time, then buy this bag. You wont regret it.

I was very impressed with the Polare Cowhide laptop backpack. It actually looks exactly like the picture online! I purchased it to carry my business equipment back and forth from my office on my motorcycles. Yes, I have 2 bikes. It is perfect for the task. Personally, I have 2 other satchels made from high quality cowhide and the Polare laptop backpack is ever as good as the others I own. The stitching is quality and uniform. The hide is even and beautifully tanned. The pack has plenty of cargo space and fits a 17 inch Macbook pro, an iPad 3 with keyboard as well as files and office supplies. The straps are sturdy and supportive; the inside is padded and protective. I would recommend this product for use as laptop backpack because it is quality and beautiful. AND it smells amazing... :-)

I purchased the leather backpack. The package arrived promptly and was nicely packed. Upon opening the box, and slowly taking off the wrapping, I was hit with a lovely leather scent. As I inspected the bag, I became more excited. The leather is beautiful, soft and thick. Not plastic or fake. FULL GRAIN LEATHER. The buckles are stout, the zippers are smooth and quiet. I get comments on it all the time. It has space for a 17 inch laptop AND a full size iPad. Both fit securely in padded slots. If youre looking for affordable quality, with great customer service, these are the people to support.

This is a good quality, THICK leather backpack. The leather is new and STIFF so it will need to be broken in before it takes on the character of the lived-in vintage personality of a good leather bag. This bag was a great buy and I had no doubts once I saw it in person that I would be happy. Leather requires some simple maintenance though: Coconut oil can help lubricate zippers. Beeswax can help slow down a loose zipper or help a loose strap in the front to get a grip. Leather conditioner and oil helps with water spots and cleaning. There are a few ways to make the bag more comfortable: 1) leave it in the original condition and keep using it! Over a good amount of time, the leather will soften. 2) Break it in by hand. This involves bending, kneading, twisting, rolling, folding every inch of the leather. Think of it like breaking in new leather shoes...as one walks in them, the shoes begin to develop characteristic creases as they bend near the toes with each step. 3) Water and oil/ leather conditioner: I dont mean wash the backpack, but instead, use a few drops of water to rub some character in areas. Leather oils and conditioners can help as well to bring out some fantastic depth of color and tone in the natural leather. Say that you want the edges to be darker, use a TINY amount of oil to help darken the areas that you want darker. Also, leather product, just like leather shoes, will need a clean and a shine every now and then in order to look its best.

Ive had this backpack for 12 days now. The day I got it my first impression was that this was an exceptionally well built backpack. Over the short time that Ive had it some flaws have became apparent which just shouldnt exist on a $170 backpack. First, what I like: The leather actually seems nice. It is the thick sturdy kind of leather and it appears to be stitched together well - hopefully this impression is correct and time wont prove me wrong. The zippers also seem sturdy and well attached. Appearance-wise, I love it. Not much to say here, you see the product photos. The flaws: Notice the U-shaped metal fixtures on the external pockets, through which the leather straps slide? Theyre not metal, they are plastic. But thats not a huge problem, fake metal is the norm these days. The big problem is that they come loose. They are screwed on, and the head of the screw is sandwiched between the leather and a layer of cloth, making it incredibly difficult to screw back in to the plastic fixture. The manufacturer could have picked better buckles for the shoulder straps too. They come loose throughout the day; the left one faster than the right one. I find myself constantly re-tightening them. I have some small gripes with certain aspects of the design itself, but those are more a matter of personal preference so I wont list them as flaws. 3 stars really seems too generous right now, but two seems a little harsh. Ill leave it at 3 for now, hopefully nothing else will come apart for a while.

Such a fantastic bag. It goes everywhere with me now. I use it primarily as a motorcycle bag, and it has withstood wind and rain without complaint. (I do not usually subject it to the rain, but sometimes it gets caught out in it.) One of the zippers on the main pouch will skip teeth if the bag is full or if I zip it closed quickly. Keep the leather conditioner on it as well, it feels like it will outlive me.

I used this bag when traveling for work. I was able to put the following into it: a 16” MacBook Pro, an Android laptop, iPad Pro, wireless headphones in a case, portable keyboard, wireless trackball, portable hard drive, Apple 30 watt power brick, Android 3 amp charger, a whole travel bag full of mobile electronic wires, a handheld satellite messenger, a cell phone, and two pens. The weight of these items would make most bags rip, but this bag holds up without issue. The leather is really nice, and I relied on it for daily use. I really like the bag.

(UPDATE: Only a day or two after posting the original review, Polare reached out to me to offer to send a brand new bag with an improved zipper. I obviously cant tell if this will last longer than the original, but I have to say the new zipper is seemingly more durable and well constructed. I very much appreciate Polare for the fantastic customer service. Buy with confidence that if something does go wrong, theyll do their best to fix it. I am leaving the original review intact for context.) The bag itself is constructed well, but one side of the main zipper has never worked properly. The thread typically comes undone behind the zipped zipper, causing the zipper to become caught. Its quite frustrating when attempting to pull out a book or laptop while fighting the broken zipper. The fact that this bag came with a premium price tag makes this unacceptable and I would take your money elsewhere.
