Great sound for the price! Will never use TV volume from TV speakers again! Was using small Yamaha front channel but, this is awesome. and you can turn off the tweeter too since the front panel is attached magnetically. I highly recommend!

I purchased this speaker to compliment a 7.1 in wall/in ceiling surround sound system. I purchased the following speakers and receiver: Polk Audio 255C-RT (Center) Polk 265-LS x 2 (Front Sides) Polk 80F/X-RT x 4 (Surround and Surround Back) Polk HTS 12 (Subwoofer) Denon AVR-x3600H (Receiver) While it is hard to come up with an individual review for each speaker, they work very well as a system. They sound decent out of the box. One of my main concerns was how well it would sound having mix and matched LS and RT into the same speaker setup. Upon the following process, those concerns were swiftly laid to rest. Once you get your initial sound set up configured (Audyssey if you are using a newer Denon receiver), tweak the crossovers and play around with other options - these speakers sound amazing once you get the right configuration. If you want to get the most out of these speakers, make sure you lay them out properly and go through the process of tweaking them to your liking. I installed the front and center channels on the wall, and the surround and surround back speakers in the ceiling. These are very easy to install. Most of your time will be spent on the layout of your speakers and potentially running speaker wire.

Installed this nearly one year ago, and its been working perfectly. The picture shows it below a 75 TV. I wanted in-wall speakers so my kids wouldnt be able to wreck them :)

I couldn’t be more pleased by the quality and amazing sound I am getting from this speaker. After lots of research and not wanting to spend a fortune I settled on this and literally could not be happier. Friends and family are blown away at how good this sounds.

I’ve used in-wall speakers such as this many times. This is an updated version of the ones I’ve used in the past. Installation is pretty straight forward as you have to cut the wall for the speaker but it fits well and the clamps hold the speaker tightly to the wall. Sound is better than the others I’ve used so this is a bonus. I would recommend this front channel speaker fir clean installations.

Looks good, sounds good, but the grill rattles and mine speakers disintegrated after a short period of using. I was very happy with how they looked and sounded after initial installation though there are definite issues with the 255c-RT. For thesix month of listening to my Polk Vanishing services 7.1 surround system), I had an annoying rattle during bassy parts of movies (and all through music though I rarely listen to music in my theater room). At first I thought it was pictures on the wall, or small items near my subwoofer was rattling but after a while I took the covers of my front 3 x speakers off and realised it was the grilles that were making the rattling noises. The speaker covers are magnetic and although they look nice, the magnets are not strong enough to stay on flush and securely; they are loose and vibrate causing unwanted noise. However once I removed the centre cover to finally determine the root cause of the rattle I discovered a second problem; the tweeter cap thingys (not sure of the technical name) fell to the floor. They had obviously broken off at some point during the first six months of use and were just sitting there waiting to fall out once the cover was off. I contacted Amazon as well as Polk who informed me the warranty was for a year only and that I need to pay to get these fixed. It doesnt appear to be the manufacturers problem that Id only used them for six months; that the speakers disintegrated between 2 and 6 months of use, and that the only reason I discovered it was talking the grilles of to find the cause of the rattling issue; it is my problem! It would be cost inhibitive to send them back for repair from New Zealand to the USA so I may wait until the next problem before replacing it though I am unlikely to buy another 255c-RT obviously. I am disappointed that after buying dozens of Polk speakers that Polk will not send me a new one. So now I have to use my speakers with the covers off, can see the faulty centre and if you look closely around the speakers, paint has chipped off the wall in places from taking the covers off on on; these could be designed not to damage walls IMO

I just finished my basement and wanted a good quality center speaker without going too crazy on budget. This met the mail. It sounds great for the price and other gear I connected it to. I would definitely recommend it as a good mid-tier speaker. Audiophiles will expect more.
