> 24 hourI originally saw this item demonstrated on the Power Block television. Even with a multi meter many automotive electrical problems are difficult to diagnose and repair. Add to that lack of reach to components and the need to fabricate jumper wires and you can get frustrated very easily. The Power Probe III gives you plenty of options and allows you to test in the rear of the vehicle or trailer that you are working on. The ability to power up components is fantastic and allows me find the problem and fix it fast. Wish I had one of these years ago. My highest recommendation. Easy to use and seems very durable.

> 24 hourThis thing has added a whole new dimension to electrical troubleshooting. Not sure where the fault is? Apply 12V to the thing (light, gauge, whatever) and then walk it back on the circuit until it stops working. Easy.

> 24 hourI purchased this VERY well made test set in 2015. I had always made my own from a 12 volt light and 10-14 gauge wire. Why I did not get this sooner I cant understand- after 3 years I have found this test set to be a top notch time saver, one of the BEST investments for maintenance and repair of the trucks I and my mother depend on for our isolated life here in extreme N.E.Wyoming (90 miles from the nearest city, no dependable repair shop there that I can afford).When Im on the 55 miles of dirt back roads, to get to the Interstate in -30 temperatures to get to my once a month shopping trip, I cant risk my life to any electrical hiccup This set includes almost everything needed to isolate an electrical problem, diagnosis of the many sensor systems that are used on any truck made from the early 80s (I have a 1986 Ranger and a 1994 GMC K2500) both need all the systems to operate in sync to run at top efficiency, I have saved countless hours with this test system. If you are a Self required mechanic , this set will save you much , both in hours and sanity . I waited the 3 years before giving this review to see if this set was a lasting investment - TOP NOTCH !!

Power Probe 3
Power Probe 3 uses a 20ft cable which attaches to the vehicle’s battery, allowing the user to perform an electrical test anywhere in, or around the vehicle.
The PP3 is a Voltmeter and Continuity Tester, with Audible & Visual indicators along with two LED headlights to light up your work area. This circuit tester also supplies Battery Voltage or Ground to activate components. The housing is sleek and feels great in your hand. While the PP3 is in Power Probe Mode. Contact the probe tip to a NEGATIVE circuit. The green negative sign “-” LED will light. If the audio feature is turned on, a low pitched tone will sound. |
While the PP3 is in Power Probe Mode, contact the probe tip to a POSITIVE circuit. The red positive sign “+” LED will light and the voltage reading of the circuit will be indicated on the LCD display. If the audio feature is turned on, a high pitched tone will sound. |
1. Connect the PP3 to a good battery. 2. Clip the auxiliary ground clip to the trailer ground. 3. Probe the contacts at the jack and then apply voltage to them. This lets you check the func-tion and orientation of the connector and trailer lights. If the circuit breaker tripped, that con-tact is likely a ground. Reset the circuit breaker by letting it cool down (15 sec.) and depress-ing the reset button until in clicks into place. |
