SAMSUNG T5 Portable SSD 1TB - Up to 540MB/s - USB 3.1 External Solid State Drive, Black (MU-PA1T0B/AM)

Purchased this hard drive based on some other positive reviews, despite all the poor reviews on transfer speed and overheating. My new Mac is 2020 w/ Big Sur. This SSD wont install and work with Big Sur; at least not without tech support from Samsung. I contacted tech support and was told to try a couple of fixes I had already tried. The tech support agent (via chat because phones were not staffed) was passive-aggressive and super difficult to work with. I was eventually given a ticket number and waited several days; after not hearing from anyone, I just returned the drive.

This drive works great. Allows me to store backups of my computer and take the data with me.

I got the 1TB T5 drive (black, if it matters) and a PiTop[4] case. Right out of the box, I cloned my microSD card to the T5, removed the card, and it booted up my Raspberry Pi 4 8GB on the first try. No fuss. Ive had some trouble with other less known brands not booting the Pi for unknown reasons (possibly power hungry?) so I was a little hesitant to try the Samsung because it is more expensive. But it works, so Ill gladly pay the small percentage more (realistically it wasnt that much more). Raspian OS works great and the drive doesnt draw too much current for the Pis modest USB 3.0 ports. I am even able to plug in a second SSD in the other USB3 port and a WiFi transmitter in the USB2 port at the same time and its still running. I slapped a double-sided piece of tape on the drive and this is now a permanent part of my PiTop[4] system.

Very high quality portable storage.

Very small package with a large capacity for total system backup for my laptop computer. This external solid state drive is much faster than the previous rotating disc drives I have been using and the expected reliability is a nice bonus.

This 1TB external SSD is super fast and quite compact, it fits comfortably in your pants pocket. But Samsung goes farther and makes it aesthetically appealing too, with fine workmanship.

Great storage capacity and very small drive. Lightweight - super fast read right speed. Was able to perform a full TimeMachine back up of a 2TB drive in just under an hour!
