07-06-2025Bought to backup my internal SSD. Connected to USB C port and it is incredibly slow. Started out fast and then continuously slows down. Backup estimate initially 1.5 hours, now 12 hours! A disk drive would have been faster.

> 3 dayI just finished backing up my computer with over 700GB of Data in less than 30 minutes. I first connected it to my laptop and ran the setup wizard to setup a security password. Keep in mind you better not lose the password because it says if you forget it you most likely will not have access to your saved data and have to reset it and basically format the drive if I read the fine print correctly. As for the drive, Im super impressed and imagine their are even faster options out there, but this is the first portable SSD Ive used as I have several older regular (non SSD) portable backup hard drives and it would take hours to do the same. Very pleased and highly recommend. I used the USB C port on my laptop and have a 1TB SSD in my laptop as well for full context that likely helped the fast data transfer.

> 3 dayGot one of these for my new iPad Pro 2020. Id like to be able to keep all my movies and photos on it to be able to have direct access to if I dont have an internet connection. When I got the drive, I plugged it into my Mac, downloaded a photo file folder, then plugged it into the iPad and boom, there were all the photos just like youd expect. No reformatting, no use of the Samsung included software. I did not find an explanation of what that software is for, but apparently it does not matter. Its nice that the iPad has pretty much all of the functionality of a normal computer now. External drives, file folder system, mouse/touchpad support etc. All we had to do was keep shoveling money at Apple for 10 years to get it

> 3 dayCheck out my unboxing video (Samsung is in the middle of the video) This works great and Samsung has made a great product. But it is pretty slow compared to an NVME ram with an enclosure.

> 3 dayThe drive worked great until I used the software. I was able to set it up unlock the drive no problem. I made a back up on the drive. Then the next time I started my Mac the drive all of a sudden according to the software was not plugged in. I contacted technical support then I was told to call the 1800 number then I was hung up on several times. I went back online the tech support guy told me to wait a minute 1 hour later no reply. I sent several emails no reply. I am done with Samsung forever. The product sucks and so does the tech support. They told me I could mail it in for a new one. I think it is a scam thats done on purpose to steal everyones data. Its like ransomware. If I send the drive in then they have my taxes, pictures, videos, basically everything I had on my computer because I though wow this will save time I dont need to encrypt my back up it has built in security. After dealing with the lowlifes on the tech support I dont think you can trust these people with anything.
