Seachem Matrix Bio Media 1 Liter

So I havent yet put this media to work in my aquariums yet and will update later with progress. Today I decided to at least get the media started in one of my aquariums inside a nylon bag, but as I was sifting through the media I noticed some black glossy pieces and other rocks in it. I rubbed away the grime on them discovered two chunks of obsidian and some other rock. Im no expert but I dont think obsidian is the kind of porous material you want for filter media as its pretty much nonporous glass. Update: so there were only 4 pieces of obsidian in the whole bottle, so its not a big deal. The media is really dirty though and youll need to wash it thoroughly before use.

Bought for my aquariums to replace biomedia my filter came with. Along with regular partial water changes the ammonia and nitrites stay at 0 so no complaints here.

This product allows me to fully pack some of the trays in my two Fluval 406 canister filters to provide maximum bio-filter capability for my 75 gallon tank that holds multiple 6 goldfish. With a tank setup like mine, there is a large amount of organic waste for the filters to process and this product does a great job for me. I find it works better than the cylinder shape products.

A lot more in the container than expected! I got 2 for my three canister filters. A bit more than a 1.25 of a litre. It is natural rock so there was a few rocks that I not look like they had pours in the rock so decided to toss them out. Just the lid’s worth of cast off. Surprised that their quality control is so lax that that many black rocks would get through in a white product. Since I am replacing bio media already in an established tank I’m doing it 1/4 at a time. So every week and a half I am doing doing another 1/4th so that the existing bio media is not wiped out in a huge swap.

Llego exactamente como me lo imagine y todavía me sobro para llenar dos bolsitas más de Matrix y les cuento mi filtro es de 60 a 100 galones porque mi pecera es de 100 y el filtro es de los filtros que son afuera y perfectamente me cupo el matrix con la bolsita de purigen lo que hice fue poner el matrix en bolsillo de terciopelo o las bolsitas donde se pone el carbón activado y encima del matrix puse el purigen obvio encima pero que el agua lo mantenga mojado ya que el purigen si se seca se daña el matrix aunque se seque siempre va a funcionar y como el purigen dice que el agua tiene que pasar a través de el pues así mismo hice y todo va bien el agua se puso un poco blanca pero investigue y es en lo que las bacterias se adhieren al matrix y les cuento yo enguaje el matrix antes de ponerlo en el filtro definitivamente lo voy a volver a comprar

Large bottle enough for least 6 months, this media is great and transformed my tank that I had let get away from me. I will say my water has looked clearer after using this than other media. After exhausted you can leave it and it will continue to be your biological media after. 2 uses with no change on your part.

Great filter medium. Can be added to a hang on the back type filter or canister filter. Much more surface area for beneficial bacteria than ceramic bio rings or plastic bio balls.

I received a few different color media but they were mostly white. Theres a good amount of different sizes too. I filled up the filter and used the rest as substrate. It can be cleaned and reused so why not? It looks great.
