Decided to try this one out. Much easier to use, and less drips and spilled conditioner. Powder form is easy to measure. BUT it does smell JUST as bad (if not even stronger) than PRIME. In all quite happy, as the bottle will likely last me for years! Update - Nov 2016 - Still with 1 -120G, 1- 90G, 1-75G, 1-45G, 2-36G and 1-20G tanks. I am down to 2/3 of the original bottle. This is with bi-weekly 50% water changes to all tanks.

For those large aquarium like 100 gal or better. I use safe for water change more concentration. Just about the same as seachem prime. I believe the prime has a added ingredient that helps fish have a skin surface conditioner.

When the tiny tub arrived I thought Id made a mistake with my order although I was pleasantly surprised. The tub has a tiny spoon to measure the correct dosage and I have hardly made a dent in it after water changing my three tanks totalling 650litres. I mixed it in a jug of water before adding to the tank then topped the tank up from the hose worked a treat. Will buy again but I wont need it for ages Im guessing.

Excellent and economical way to detoxify ammonia and chlorine from tap water for use in larger fish tanks. Also useful in de-chlorination step during Purigen regeneration. Pros: Less expensive alternative to Seachem Prime. Cons: SAFE is not shelf stable when added to water and must be used immediately. It is shelf stable in its dry powder form. SAFE also doesn’t detoxify heavy metals or add slime coat like Prime. SAFE is so concentrated that measuring is more difficult. I use miniature measuring spoons (sold on eBay and Amazon which include 1/64 tsp, 1/32 tsp, 1/16 tsp, 1/8 tsp and 1/4 tsp). Or you can use a digital measuring spoon for the very small weights used with SAFE (sold on eBay and Amazon).

It is so much cheaper than prime. With a 180 gallon fish tank this does the job well.

This is so much more cost effective

Sachem Safe Water Conditioner Safe is the complete and concentrated dry conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Safe removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Safe converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank"s bio filter. Safe may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Safe detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the bio filter to more efficiently remove them. Safe is non-acidic and will not impact ph. Safe will not over activate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water. Safe is the dry version of Prime(R) and shares all of it"s advantages; however, Safe is even more concentrated than Prime(R) . Product Features: Works great with freshwater and saltwater aquariums Non-acidic and won"t impact pH Will not over activate skimmers Item Specifications: Sizes: 8oz 2.2lb 8.8lb Directions: To remove-(Directions for 8.8oz or higher) Chlorine: use 5 g (1 tsp.*) to each 1625 L (450 gallons*) of tap water (removes 4 ppm). Chloramine: use 5 g (1 tsp.*) to each 1250 L (300 gallons*) of tap water (removes 4 ppm). Ammonia: use 5 g (1 tsp.*) to each 400 L (100 gallons*) of tap water (removes 4 ppm). Do not overdose To detoxify nitrite/nitrate in an emergency situation use up to 5 g (1 tsp.*) to each 400 L (100 gallons*). Use fish to gauge toxicity reduction as test kits will still show presence of nitrite/nitrate even when detoxified. May be added to aquarium directly, but is better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. If temperature is > 30 C (86 F) cut dosing in half.
