I bought this and the Grado mini adaptor for comparison on purpose after seeing some reviews citing sonic differences. The Grado has a hair more of bass response and flatter soundstage while the Sennheiser extends the sound outwards. Im not sure how can an adaptor have such an effect, but this is what I hear.

Wish Ive known this OEM Sennheiser adapter before I bought a cheap $5 jack. Fits like a glove, works like a charm!!!

bought as backup until i could replace my 3.5 jack which broke on my original cable that came with my sennheiser hd259. (entirely my fault, cable looped around my foot by accident and thus followed my foot at the expense of a broken jack).
