These were recommended to me by a sound professional who uses them almost exclusively for micing guitar amps and bass amps at live gigs. His comment about them is that they are as good for the job as a Shure SM58, but a lot easier to place. He just drops them over the front of amps and secures the cable with a little duct tape to the amp.

Havent actually used it on my amp yet. I bought it to solve the problem of cumbersome stands required to hold the typical front-firing mics like the SM-57 that stick out ad get kicked or tripped over on stage. I tested the mic by recording some speech with it - probably the best way to fairly evaluate any microphone. The mic has a built-in curve to attenuate the harsh upper-mids usually prevalent in electric guitars and amps and is very warm sounding with a nice top end. Building a curve into a mic rather than trying to make it as flat as possible is nothing new with manufacturers. As an example, I will point out that ever popular kick drum mic (cant think of the brand now) that EVERY drummer seems to swear by. That mic has a very pronounced smiley-face dip in the lower-mids that essentially boosts the bottom and upper mids, giving the kick drum a very processed studio sound. I expect this little mic to do its job well and stay out of my way on stage!

Works and sounds fantastic. Way better then having a stand in front of having the wrong mic laying over the top of my amp. Would definitely recommend.

Super light and negates the need for an amp stand. A perfect addition to my PA rig and a great fit for my never-ending quest to lighten my load.

I love this MIC! I was looking for a good way to put my rig through our PA, and Im not a big fan of DI so I started using a microphone. The problem was that my mics sound great for vocals but not so great for instruments (to my ear, anyway). So I tried the 609 and the 906. They both sound great but the 609 has a warmer sound than the 906, which is what I wanted. So I bought two of them. Now my lead guitarist uses one as well. Its also hard to beat Sennheiser quality. I get compliments about how nice my guitar sounds through the PA.

It’s like comparing a tele with a les Paul. Both are amazing at what they do and neither are better than the other both both are applicable to almost every situation. I see these compared and complained against their 57 counterparts daily but when both are paired the sound you get is incredible. Buy both and hear for yourself.
