Once I learned how highly regarded this mic is for guitar recording, I couldn’t believe the great price! You get different sounds just from slightly different positioning. The packaging was great and includes a sweet carrying bag. Happy with my purchase.

Had to return this cuz it didnt sound as good as the 609.. or a sm57. Its just a little too thin and doesnt have enough upper mid-range like the 57 does, but I guess its not supposed to. But just for me personally the 57 is more familiar and I like the thickness

Previously I was using the Sure 57 like every guitar player under the sun. But I could never achieve a full and present sound with the 57, and always had to crank my guitar channel up in the mix a bit higher than everyone else in the band. The Sennheiser Professional was a huge improvement. Now I can hear my guitar cutting through the mix clearly and fully. I also like the drape down method of mic placement on the amp speaker instead of having a mic stand getting in the way. You need this mic if you want your guitar channel to come alive.

I use the E609 primarily to mic 50W Marshall head with JCM900 4x12 cab in combination with a Shure SM57. I find it to be brighter and more transparent than the darker sound captured by the Shure. If I could only use one, Id go with the Sennheiser E609 over the Shure SM57 because the tone sounds more natural anywhere on the speaker, requires less EQ tweaking and needs no stand. That said, the two mics work very well together. This mic is an excellent value. I wish I had purchased one years ago!

I have done some gigs where I used venues backline and this mic was used a few times. Liked the ease of use and size. Picked this up for my own rig and very happy with it. Cant beat the price and I find comprable to my SM57.
