My boyfriend has had a beard for a couple of years now, and hes never once bought anything for it. I, however, have spent numerous hours watching videos, reading reviews, etc. Everything he has, beard related, is something I picked out. From his sandalwood comb, and boar brush, to his wash, oils, butters, and wax. Even his Norelco, and hair/beard straightener. Hes been using Professor Fuzzworthys Beard Shampoo, which I recommend, because its a bar, that will literally last you about a year, if used once daily. I also recommend a Soap Lift dish, for your bar, if youre interested. Hes then using Seven Potions Oil (Citrus Tonic) and Detroit Grooming Co. butter, in the Leland scent (which is AMAZING). The absolute BEST product I have found, is that butter. It smells ridiculously good (mango + lime), and works great! He was running low on oil, but also, since his beard has got long, weve noticed knots/tangles becoming common. I ended up here because I ventured out in search of a beard detangler/conditioner. Since this kit has it all, I was interested. Its pretty cheap, considering all you get, which did worry me, but I figured itd be good enough for now. This kit is pretty good, but not great. I really like the scent! When I hug him, its a very soft scent, that reminds me of vanilla, cookies, or milk chocolate/cocoa. It doesnt smell exactly like coco butter, but Id definitely put it in that family. Doesnt at all smell like citrus, cologne/athletic, woodsy, or earthy. In my opinion, its a warm scent, in the vanilla tobacco realm. It softens his beard, but not as good as the butter Ive previously mentioned, and we have noticed that he still has kinks that are difficult to comb through, after applying the conditioner. He hasnt bothered with the beard balm in this kit, but when he does, Ill give an update. I have two complaints, 1) its filled with a ton of stuff thats clearly not organic. No different than store bought hair products. When youre dealing with a beard, having alcohol on the list of ingredients (among other things), is somewhat concerning. We all know alcohol to be drying. Nowadays, the majority of beard products, pride themselves on only having a few ingredients, and those few ingredients being all-natural, and nothing that would strip the beard of its natural oils, and moisture. 2) I thought the beard conditioner would be for shower usage. It is not. Its yet another product you guys will have to use, outside of the shower. That was really disappointing for me because I try to keep things quick, and convenient for him, in fear that he will lose interest if I overwhelm him with 10 million grooming steps. I thought it would be simple, shampoo and conditioner in the shower, oil outside of the shower. Figured he could wash his beard, put the conditioner in, wash off, rinse, hop out. Hes been using the products, just fine, for a week now, but I know how after a while, (as a female) you just get tired of all of the maintenance steps. How you eventually get to where youre no longer applying your moisturizer, and other skin products, every. single. day. I have three brothers, and was raised by a single father. I know that guys are even worse with all of that. I also know that guys prefer things to be short, and sweet when it comes to reading reviews, so, Ill shut up now, haha. For the price, this is a solid kit. It could be better, but then it would cost a lot more. Again, I LOVE the scent. All in all, its worth giving a shot!

I do notice a difference with the wash and detangler, I feel the oil though I would rather use a different brand, better scent, and the balm to put on to tame it, another brand, dont like the smell. I have not tried any other detangler but this one is pretty good until the beard dries more. I have a really curly beard, its impossible to tame, prove me wrong.

This is a Father’s Day gift and the box came crushed and damage. Since it is a gift , I wanted the box to in tact , presentation is important to me .

Got it for my son. He has a really bushy beard. He says it’s perfect.

Love the smell and how easy and simple the product feels , non sticky, a little goes a long ways

I cannot generally speak on the product itself too poorly because results may vary from man to man based on your own beard structure, density, and skin sensitivity. What I can say positively is the product smells great and it’s not too bad. It isn’t harsh or chock full of the bad ingredients that can destroy a beard. However there are better more natural products out there and I encourage folks to spend what they think their beard is worth to them. From a negative standpoint, the product packaging is horrible. I’m not sure if they know better than to package oil based products with a more paper based or eco friendly wrapping but trust me when the oil from the product hits the labels on these things it’s atrocious after a while. The oil breaks down the label leaving a little green label residue everywhere making it difficult to get in, manage your beard, and get out and about with your day. Shea Moisture has an argan/Moroccan oil/moisturizer/shampoo line for head hair with much better packaging and they should take notes from themselves in that regard. The beard balm is THICCK a little too thick for my liking because it gunks up my pores and creates clogged hair follicles. Every time I took a break from it I’d be fine. A day or two after using the balm the skin under my beard would become dry with inflamed hair follicles and I’d have to use a bentonite clay mask with steam treatments and close monitoring to un-irritate my skin. But like I said this may vary from man to man. The beard wash is probably my favorite although the moisturizer was a daily go to for me at one point. Shop around and experiment lightly based on ingredients and live non-biased reviews Is the best advice I can give.

I got my Husband this system for Christmas and he really likes it. He says he likes that the system is all in one verses systems he had tried from Target or specialty stores like the Art of Shaving, where the stock of certain items are hit or miss. He likes the leave in conditioner process which cuts down on prep time and he likes the smell. The only negative thing he mentioned is, though the beard balm is good at taming his beard, it is not as good as the Clubman beard balm he purchases. When I compared the two of them it seems the shea moisture beard balm has wax as the 5th ingredient and Clubman has it as the 3rd. This let me know that the wax is not used as much in the Shea moisture product.

Of all the products in the kit I enjoy the detangler the most. I think the detangler helps prevent breakage when combing through my beard. The balm puts me in mind of Murrays hair grease. I definitely would not recommend it for white men or those with that type of hair. The balm does have shea butter and other good ingredients to soften and add sheen. Supposedly, shea butter is good for the hair. If I had to knock the product I would say not all the ingredients are not pure. The beard oil and shampoo are okay. Lastly, I would recommend using the products when your beard is dry to get the most length out of your beard. My beard curls when wet.
