Shiner Gold Clay Pomade | Strong Hold | Matte Finish | Water-based | Coconut Scent, 4oz

I got it quick and it worked just fine. Just confused that I have owned this before and it was more like clay. The product In the inside was completely different from what I expected. (This was more pomade like)

My husband has very thick hair, and this clay works great. It doesn’t make your hair look crunchy like gel sometimes does. It keeps his hair styled, and the product isn’t visible in his hair.

Its been a while since I purchased this brand. The clay is different than in the past but works just as well.

Really good products; I typically use the Pomade and just wanted to see the difference; I actually find the pomade to be a stronger hold with a tighter look; this was not a bad product but it is not as firm and does not provide that slicked back look; better if you are looking for more natural and body

Great hold and pleasant smell

I am a big fan of this product. i have dark brown hair and never had an issue with streaking from the clay color of the product. The clay had a fantastic hold and didnt make my hair look wet. On my most recent order I received an updated version of the product. Its no longer clay colored. Its now white. I wrote to shiner and they confirmed that they changed the formula because of complaints that the clay left streaks in some customers hair. However, it still comes in the same gold tin. The consistency of the original product was similar to actual clay, maybe slightly lighter in texture. I loved it. The new white formula has the consistency of something like a more solid cream. In my opinion, the hold is not as good, it does not last as long either unfortunately. I would love it if shiner could bring the original product back for those of us who like that product and put the new formula in a different colored tin for those who need something different. The original clay was awesome. the new product doesnt seem to do what the original did. edit: after some time using the new formula, I must say that it is equally as good as the original. Have used nothing but shiner gold for a couple of years. I think its the best.

Ive been hunting for a hair clay that balances my ideal hold, scent, and price for a long time and finally found it in the older clay Shiner product. So, having no need for other products, I ordered multiple tins to stock up since I had finally found something that works perfect for me, only to receive the new product. Thats what I get for trying to stock up. I do not like the new product very much and am very disappointed I ordered not knowing they reformulated the product. Besides the tin, the scent, and the price, they are quite different. According to other reviews, they changed the formula for the color. Okay, I guess this is understandable. However, the hold is much lighter than the original. I prefer to apply product in the morning with slightly damp hair which used to leave my hair with a firm shiny texture, to which I would run my fingers through when dry and it would have a still have great loose hold only in a soft matte texture. The new product holds okay when first applied, but when adjusted looses its hold altogether. I wish I had been notified of the change as I would have been more cautious of purchasing multiple tins. They should have released a new product in a new package instead of reformulating the old one which I feel is deceptive. I will no longer be purchasing from them in the future.

Very nice i love that it is truly matte. No shine. Scent is fine. I don’t not like it but i don’t want it to stick around and it doesn’t so thats a plus in my book. Works well and a little goes a long way. Ill order again.

Awesome product. Ive been researching different products for quite some time. Gels, creams, pomades etc. Shiner gold is perfect for thick dark hair (mines dark brown). If you want a solid hold and a matte look this stuff is the ish. Bonus: It gives your hair a slight brown tint
