if your looking to upgrade an older Mac like I did, you might need this.. I needed an laptop to run a DAW for recording but didnt want to spend big money on a computer.. i was gifted this MacBook Pro and needed it running certain compatibilities for LogicProX (10.5).. so from the stock 4Gb it originally had, I upgraded to 16Gb and the difference is what you would hope to see.. LogicProX runs flawlessly at the same time as other apps..
