> 3 dayI purchased this (on another amazon account) to upgrade a late 2014 Mac mini with Fusion drive. This means that the Mac mini already had a 2.5” SATA drive installed as well as a small caching SSD in the top slot. If you’re going to try this, use the excellent guide at iFixit to see how it’s done, but be aware of a few things:

> 3 dayTo start, this adaptor is hard to find out of the online world. Once more, Amazon had it.

> 3 dayMy installation was a bit more complicated as I had a 1TB fusion drive with bad HDD. I had to buy a tool kit and gut the entire Mac Mini and remove both drives from the drive bay. In fact the built in SSD portion had to be sliced out with a razor blade. The new M.2 holder fit perfectly on top of the empty drive bay. I added the new 500 GB M.2 drive and closed up the machine. From there you can boot to a screen called Internet Recovery, which operates independently of any hard drive. Internet Recovery allowed me to format the new M.2 drive and install Big Sur OS.

> 3 dayThis did exactly what it claimed to do. It did it perfectly. It was reasonably priced. It got to me sooner than I expected. What could be better.

11-06-2025You will need to be on High Sierra or later to have native NVME support. I havnt had luck with samsung nvmes but I used a WD Black or Adata ones works with this adapter.

> 3 dayI happened to come across this while looking at SSD drives for my late 2014 model Mac-mini. Like most others, I found the computer had become nearly useless due to always having the spinning color wheel. I really had a hard time bringing myself to purchase a new Mac-mini since it would have cost >$1k. I really dont need much out of this desktop so thought maybe replacing the 1TB HDD with an SSD drive could help. The other problem though is I didnt want to replace it with something smaller so was looking at >=1TB SSD drives. Those arent terribly expensive, but still seemed a gamble since I wasnt sure that was really going to fix it.
