> 3 dayYou have to download the Tenda app. Theres no getting around that. Once the plug is synced and you have the steady blue light, you can take the plug, put it in whatever outlet you want...like its ready to go. I wanted the plug to control a floor lamp, and for Alexa to control IT. I needed to download the Alexa app too, which Id had previously, but disabled because it conflicted with my car Bluetooth and gym app. So I re-downloaded the Alexa app, and followed the Alexa app instructions to tell it to communicate with the Tenda app/plug. Once the two apps were communicating, I told Alexa to make a command to run BOTH smart plugs and floor lamps: Alexa, turn on the lights. (Id already had a smart plug/lamp setup from before, so I was basically adding a second plug/lamp setup.) So now when I say, Alexa, turn on the lights, she turns on both smart plugs which turns on both lights. When I got that working, I just went ahead and uninstalled the Tenda app and Alexa app again. Retested the lamp command (for both on and off) and bingo, both lamps come on and off with no issues. So its proof that you DONT need the Tenda or Alexa app once youve got your plugs synced. Id be sitting in the dark if this wasnt true!

> 3 dayThis is a great smart plug, functionally speaking. It works just like the [much] more expensive ones at a fraction of the cost, making it a great value. The one irritating thing, and its not unique to the Tenda, is that in order to set up the plugs you have to download yet another proprietary app, Tenda Beli. I have a lot of smart plugs and smart light bulbs around the house, and it is getting to be more than annoying that every brand has their own proprietary app in the App Store. Its even more annoying because every app works just the same. Just. The. Same. And I also know that the brains of all these smart accessories are made by the same one or two Chinese companies, so theyre all really no different inside. Anyway, once you download the app, you go through the usual process of registering, verifying your email, then logging in. Once logged in, download the Tenda Beli skill to Alexa, set it up/log in, and you should be good to go. Note that you only have to do all this for the first plug you install; additional plugs are automatically identified. Once set up, they work as expected. To me, its worth a little setup irritation for the money you save with these plugs.

> 3 dayWas a pretty easy set up and worked for about a month and a half. Works remotely with the tends app.. but no longer communicates with Alexa. I have tried everything . Even started up the whole set up again. Nothing works… just a bunch of junk. Will replace with a different brand of plugs.

Greater than one weekProduct won’t merge with Alexa so if that’s why you want them then buy something else. The app works and i can control lights that way but not what i intended
