so first off this is not my first scanner by uniden my old one that crapped out was a bc60xlt which had problems. anyway the new one that i purchased i love work actually better then the old out dated unit that i threw out. this unit only needs to batteries rather then the old 4 battery which is a major plus because the unit is easyer to stand up and carry. the only real complaint that i have with the unit and company uniden is that its a pain in the butt to program the unit for the first time because the instructions are not clear. i would really recommend watching the youtube video on how to do it makes life and programming really easy and a flash.

Lots of one star reviews by people who refuse to read the instructions. You need to save every frequency you want the scanner to listen for, its not automatic. Most areas have dozens per agency so download the free software and use the usb cable and a computer to do it.

I purchased this model to replace an aging Radio Shack scanner I have to listen to military aircraft. I bought it in Nov, but didnt get to opening it until Jan. Upon trying to load the higher UHF frequencies I found out this model doesnt handle those frequencies. It was on the box, but I wish it was called out in the details here on Amazon. The fact I waited so long to open my return window had also close. And because most Police Departments have gone digital I cant even use it to listen to them.

We bought this to take to a Nascar race for the ability to tune into the racers channels and hear what is being said. This was a pretty easy device to program. I simply looked up the Nascar line up, found a YouTube video to show me HOW to turn this, and then input the correct numbers as needed. It worked just fine and doesnt seem to use much battery usage at all.

I saw some reviews that described this scanner as not being able to get good reception on distant transmissions or good battery life. Well,, I get aircraft traffic from an airport 10 miles away not to mention my local airport 5 miles to the south. I have had the radio on for 3 days for 2-3 hours at a time until the low battery alert came on. This is a nice little scanner and the volume is loud at full blast. I also live in an aluminum sided mobile home and it works great inside the house too. I have not done much scanning with it as I know each frequency that I want to listen to so cannot comment on this function other than it picks up our local police just fine.

I like how it is hand-held, but I dislike how it does not come with any batteries or chargers. If you use normal, non-rechargeable Alkaline batteries, you will need to replace them after a couple of days, max. I use mine for just a couple to a few hours a day. I turn it off at night or when I leave for work or school or errands. Yet after two days it continuously beeps indicating a low battery. Rechargeable batteries at least save you money but dont last any longer. So I had to make a separate purchase for a car charger and wall charger for it. I have yet to find a docking station setup which would be handy. But overall I like it. Ive been wanting one for quite some time but never knew what kind or how much to spend. I do wish it had better reception and longer battery life, but at least it was under $100.

I do like my scanner..I have been a Scanner enthusiast for 40 years, back when they took crystals you had to buy for an additional 5 bucks..I am from Chicago and its great if you live in a big city, Now I am in a different state, in a rural area and travel in a 150 mile radius as a 24/7 service technician so I like to catch the action...Its a little different out here as the bigger municipalities use a trunking system on a higher frequency then this particular scanner..However the stuff I can pick up is clear and I LOVE how you can hook up to you PC and program it...!

Regardless of a lot of the negative remarks about it, I gave it a try. I am extremely happy with it. I did complete the setup via PC and Internet. It was easy as could be. I would highly recommend this scanner to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hand held scanner. Also you can easily find the nondidgital repeter channels for any of the digital channels and it is only milliseconds lag time. Great buy I ordered the used item and it looked like it was never opened prior to me receiving it.

Nice little unit, worked as expected. The only comment is the programming of the unit was a pain in the a*&. I ended up using the computer / USB interface to program it. I had to learned the hard way to save my work on my computer before sending it to the scanner, and remember every time I added new channels I had to work off of the old setup / profile or I lost the channels I had already setup. Nice little option for the money. I would have given it five stars if the programming was easier. I never did get one channel programmed off the units keypad itself, and the instructions really didnt help me.
