In case of emergency scanner is a great asset to have it lets you know what’s going on in your area specially in times of storms and other natural disasters, :)

    Greater than one week

The SR30C is compact and easy to carry. A learning curve to program it. I ended up watching a YouTube video on how to enter my own frequencies and it is easy once you know the steps. I replace the included antenna with my own longer one for better reception. Otherwise a decent scanner.

Seemed to work well for nascsr. Used the computer to program it because typing in individual frequency for 50 drivers was taking forever. Had to play with the settings quite a bit to get adequate reception. Instructions could be a little more clear. Overall it did its job of picking up the NASCAR driver radio broadcasts.

…and good enough to do the job. This fills that bill. Probably not for you if your interest is police traffic. Not si ple to program on the scanner, but is easier to program from a PC. If you are some distance from the rail traffic, consider 6dB antenna.

I liked how brand new it looked and worked. I have nothing bad to write about it.

Just what I needed for monitoring emergency activity! The battery-life on the rechargeable unit is long-lasting. Nice to take-out for a few days without having to charge.

I have always thought of Uniden as a quality product. The SR30C was a new product and seemed to have good reviews except for the complicated programming, but that was not a problem for me. The build quality was excellent as well a the sound quality. One big problem was the battery life. I put in a new set of alkaline batteries and they lasted about 12 hours when I got the low battery warning. Replaced them with a fully charged set of NiMH batteries which lasted about 3 hours until they also set off the low battery warning. I have a portable radio that works on alkaline batteries that has been working for months. Not sure if this was just a bad unit, or a battery hog. Returned it to Amazon for a refund. Will be contacting Uniden to get their opinion.
